Summary

This position is responsible for developing and delivering the supply chain strategy, including the strategy for procurement, materials planning, production scheduling, and the material storage and distribution. This role is accountable for supply chain effectiveness, and is responsible for the performance of the Supply Chain function as they provide support to clinical and commercial manufacturing at Stratatech - A Mallinckrodt Company. Will provide oversight for his/her direct reports as they procure, control inventory, ship/receive and sustain ERP master data. Ensure that the team goals and objectives are achieved as they pertain to Safety, Quality, Cost Standards, and Operational Excellence.

Essential Functions


  • Proven mastery of Supply Chain's individual contributor duties, or equivalent external experience. These include: Procurement, Inventory Management, Warehouse Management, ERP master data management, Shipping/Receiving, and Master Schedule ownership.

  • Provides leadership on topics related to procurement, including the management of supplier relationships and supplier strategy, inventory levels and flow of raw materials and finished goods), shipping, receiving and control of master data in collaboration with other cross-functional areas.

  • Drives the Supply Chain strategy and associated initiatives for the site in conjunction with the site leadership team, supportive of the future growth of the products (e.g. new 3PL, storage, etc.)

  • Manage and optimize the daily activities of the warehouse, other storage facilities, and the overall product distribution network. Ensures adequate inventory control processes that support safety stock of materials and finished goods that drive operations excellence and best practices.

  • Ensures SC works collaboratively with Science & Technology, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing functions at site, and ensures alignment with corporate Procurement and Supply Chain functions.

  • Ensure full compliance to OSHA and cGMP regulations that support manufacturing

  • Serve as point of contact for equipment alarms and off-shift issues, as necessary.

  • Author and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) or other documentation necessary to support supply chain processes including deviations, investigations, etc.

  • Organize, manage and improve supply chain operations in support of all products and processes according to cGMPs in a right first time and timely manner

  • Build, maintain and motivate team to ensure achievement of all productivity targets and output requirements.

  • Establish priorities and assure adequate resources to complete projects in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for the yearly and long range production planning schedule and ensure alignment of the site with the corporate SIOP process.

  • Communicate business performance against established and newly developed key indicators and associated metrics for forecast accuracy, production plans, customer service and inventory management performance.

  • Introduce and perform training activities necessary to ensure competency of new hires and proficiency of existing staff.

  • Support and assist in implementation of safety initiatives and training as directed by site management.

Minimum Requirements

Education / Experience / Skills:


  • B.S./B.A in business, science, engineering or related technical field with a minimum 10 years' experience preferably in Biotechnology or Pharmaceuticals. APICS certification also preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP is highly preferred.

  • Excellent time management stills with ability to provide day-to-day coaching, mentoring and supervision of local Supply Chain Team.

  • Experience with establishing and using a Strategic Inventory and Operating Plan process to forecast demand and ensure reliable supply.

  • Experience with establishing and managing expectations for external 3PL distribution organizations.

  • Experience with Government-sponsored projects and contracts is preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to train others to perform to cGMP standards.

  • Knowledge of cGMP practices, regulatory expectations and process controls and ability to work in an electronic Quality Management System.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills for a diverse audience.

  • Well organized with ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously and manage competing demands in a fast-paces and dynamic work environments.

  • Meticulously adhere to written procedures and demonstrate good documentation practices.

Organizational Relationship/Scope:

The role of the Senior Manager, Supply Chain is a site-level position that is part of the Site Leadership Team reporting directly to the Site Director. The primary responsibility is oversite and management of the local Supply Chain team which have full responsibility for inventory and warehouse management including final product storage, shipping and distribution, demand and materials planning, as well as procurement. This position also works closely with corporate accounting and the site financial controller to ensure on time and accurate financial estimates for the site. This position will interface daily with other site leadership members including Quality, Quality Control, Facilities & Equipment, and Manufacturing and spend ~25% interacting with corporate and above-site colleagues.

Working Conditions:

The role of the Senior Manager, Supply Chain is a very dynamic site leadership position. Time will be spent actively managing the site Supply Chain Team, developing supply and demand models, working with Procurement, Commercial and Clinical colleagues to ensure continuity of supply and supporting day-to-day supply chain activities. Work will be split between plant-based operations and meetings, presentation preparation, and Quality Management interfaces.
