The Role

We are seeking a Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer for the Test Automation team. They should have experience in developing test automation in code-focused frameworks. Experience with Python, C/C++, and/or C# are preferred. In this position you will be an integral part of the product development team, who is responsible for releasing numerous cutting edge Web Security applications and services. You will get the opportunity to work with our team of talented engineers to facilitate development and testing of the next generation of our End-Pont protection applications.

Specific Objectives and Responsibilities

Your First Six Months:


  • Acquire end-to-end knowledge about Webroot's End Point protection application

  • Work with other engineers within the team to understand our SDLC - how teams work and collaborate to contribute to the release efforts in the most efficient way

  • Gain solid understanding of our CI/CD and virtual automation lab platforms

  • Gain understanding of the existing test automation frameworks and technologies the team uses. These include tools implemented in C/C++, C#, and Python, with the Python framework being our largest and primary focus

Six to Twelve Months and Beyond:


  • Play an important role in the success of the team by efficiently developing automated test scripts for the assigned project, maintaining and extending existing tools, and developing new tools

  • Work with other team members to develop a game plan that ensures the team's success, and contribute to improving processes to shorten the test cycle

  • Share knowledge and experience through code reviews, technical discussion, demos, and mentoring, to help all members of the team grow and improve

  • Work with the team to get tests for new products automated, and to support testing efforts required for the new releases

  • Work with the team to improve reporting to be uniform across test frameworks and provide clear, meaningful results to stakeholders

  • Continue acquiring new skills that will be required to support the testing efforts for new product that the team will be delivering

Skills & Experience:


  • Strong analytic skills, good problem solving and solid understanding in common testing techniques to verify application performance and reliability

  • Able to communicate complex data and results to audiences with wide ranges of technical background

  • Experience configuring CI/CD systems such as GitLab or Jenkins

  • Experience with VM platforms such as VMWare vRealize, Amazon EC2, and Azure

  • Experience with system setup tools such as Packer, Ansible, and Terraform

  • Comfortable with shell scripting on Windows and Linux platforms

  • Experience in developing test automation or other coding using Python or similar languages

  • Experience creating automated tests for Windows Desktop GUI applications

  • Experience in installing and administering Windows Operating system

  • Solid understanding in automation framework and performance test approaches/methods

  • Solid understanding of the full software development life cycle

  • Very adaptive to fast changing environment, willing and able to acquire new skills as required

  • Flexible, open mind, willing to take on challenges, and taking initiative

  • Solid understanding of networking protocols, and ability to troubleshoot issues between the client and server components of the application.
