Tetra Tech's Lafayette, California, office, with a long track record of applied environmental R&D work, is currently seeking a motivated, creative and detail-oriented Environmental Scientist Intern to provide high-level technical support on a variety of projects related to groundwater and surface water systems, focusing on areas such as water quality, water supply, and climate risk assessment. As part of our team, you will assist with reviewing published research and environmental planning documents, model development in different domains, perform data compilation and data analysis using tools such as Python/R and prepare technical reports and journal manuscripts. You may also support a broad range of environmental projects throughout Tetra Tech and which requires a demonstrated ability to work well with clients and Tetra Tech team members.

More About This Role:

• Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide technical support to engineering/scientific staff and project managers in support of water resource projects.
• Provide support for the analysis of diverse water resources including surface waters and groundwater basins using geospatial tools, numerical models, databases and applied statistics.
• Prepare documentation of completed tasks that summarizes analytical data and interpretation through clear technical writing, figures, charts, and maps.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree (preferred) in environmental engineering/science with a strong quantitative focus.
• Coursework in hydrology, statistics, environmental sciences, environmental modeling.
• Academic research experience, including participation in studies and completed documentation/publication is a strong plus.
• Must be highly motivated, a critical thinker and problem solver, detail-oriented, and a team player with strong focus on quality.
• The candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
