The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking highly motivated individuals to join the IT Platforms team. This growing, technically diverse, and talented team designs, deploys, secures, operates, troubleshoots, and maintains creative, resilient, and highly available IT equipment and networks deployed in unique, multifaceted operational technology (OT) industrial systems and solutions at multiple sites across the Naval Nuclear Laboratory.

IT Platforms directly support scientists, engineers, and technicians who operate IT and OT systems in laboratory, test, production, scientific, and industrial work spaces. In this position you will design, implement, and support IT equipment and peripherals including clients, laptops, tablets, printers, and scanners. Physical and virtual technologies are deployed. Responsibilities include consulting with system owners in the performance of life cycle management, in identifying and planning upgrades, and in incorporating new technologies and improvements; identifying and mitigating cyber security threats and vulnerabilities; administering Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy; troubleshooting and resolving problems; and teaming with scientists, engineers, and technicians in selecting, procuring, configuring, securing, maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting IT and OT systems and solutions.

You will work alongside and be mentored by a talented team of IT professionals in a fun and challenging environment supporting IT equipment deployed in OT systems and solutions spread across many diverse and unique applications and environments; and resolving IT/OT challenges experienced by scientists, engineers, and technicians. You will be asked to seek out ways to improve IT and OT systems and operations through automation and creative problem solving. As deployed systems grow and mature, you will research and recommend new technologies and implement solutions to add functionality, increase capacity, and improve performance.

Required Skills

Intermediate:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or


• Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year relevant experience

Advanced:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience; or


• Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience

• Ability to successfully instruct and train others in how to effectively use IT equipment deployed in OT industrial systems and solutions.


• Demonstrated Microsoft-centric background including experience and understanding of Windows client operating systems, Active Directory, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity principles, policies, and requirements.


• Demonstrated experience with vulnerability management (VM) and patching tools (e.g. Nessus VM scanning, IBM Big Fix) and administration of security applications and hardening tools (e.g. Antivirus).


• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills to diagnose, debug, and successfully resolve client, desktop, laptop, and tablet problems.


• Demonstrated experience supporting and troubleshooting IT/OT system interfaces with technology embedded equipment including microscopes, analyzers, scales, sensors, controllers, PLCs, and other such devices.


• Demonstrated ability to develop solutions to unique and potentially unstructured problems.


• Demonstrated experience working with and communicating across groups, diverse teams, or physical locations in collaborative and teaming environments.


• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts and issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.


• Demonstrated leadership.
