Position Summary / Career Interest:
Hays: The Health unit coordinator performs a variety of clerical duties associated with patient care unit operations. The safety technician must meet hospital competence in video monitoring; assumes responsibility for initiating video monitoring and use of virtual bedrails; uses alarm parameters correctly; identifies and notifies responsible RN of emergency and nonemergency safety events.
Great Bend: The Customer Care Representative assists in the delivery of patient care and provides related support functions through the performance of a variety of tasks. Basic Function: Under direct supervision performs a variety of clinical functions of Certified Nurse Aide; and provides clerical work as making arrangements for discharge/transfer of emergency department patients. Helps with cleaning beds between patient s and delivering lab specimens to lab as needed.
Position Description:
Maintains patient charts and profiles by assembling, processing, documenting and auditing.
Provides clerical support to the unit with the use of office equipment including telephone, computer, call light system, instant messaging services, wireless communication, pneumatic tube station and intercom.
Prepares medical records and forms including consents, permits and order sets.
Assists with daily staffing by utilizing the electronic staffing system.
Responsible for maintaining unit's inventory of supplies and equipment by ordering, receiving, distributing, sorting and preparing reports related to supplies/equipment.
Greets, directs and informs customers/patients of hospital services; and assists with inquiries concerning community services.
Serves as a customer service liaison between patients and other healthcare members (internal and external).
Patient Safety Technician: Communicates effectively by accurately relaying information regarding video monitoring and nurse staff.
Communicates potential safety events/warnings for all patients on video monitoring.
Provides hand-off communication regarding patient's monitoring status and events during shift.
Maintains a log of all patients on video monitoring, including: time of admission/discharge, notification of RN's name, date and time of events/notifications.
Protects patient privacy during sensitive procedures or processes by activating the privacy screen.
Seeing: To perceive or comprehend by the sense of sight.Ex: peripheral vision,focus (distinctness or clarity),depth perception (determine distance relationship between objects), and ability to distinguish colors (ex: lab tests, scheduling/tracking software)

Required:
Hays: Ability to type and manage stress through effective communication and multi tasking.
Hays: Ability to deal understandingly and tactfully with ill patients and their families; ability to maintain working relationships with Associates.
Hays/Great Bend: BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification with in the first two weeks of employment
Great Bend: Current Certified Nurses Aide certificate.
Great Bend: Able to multi-task in stressful situations.
Preferred:
Hays: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Hays: courses in medical terminology, business communication and computers.
Hays: six months of medical center experience. Ability to type and manage stress through effective communication and multi tasking. Ability to deal understandingly and tactfully with ill patients and their families; ability to maintain working relationships with Associates. Hays: National Association of Health Unit Coordinators preferred.
Great Bend: Medical Surgical Certified Nurses Aide for a least one year preferred, but not required.
