Job Details:

Job Summary: Develop, write and publish technical documents to meet external customer contract requirements and schedules. These requirement deliverables are referred to as Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs). Documents are focused on the operation and maintenance of large-scale, infrastructure solutions and intelligent travel applications for major global city transportation industry customers. Documentation subject matter includes back office financial & accounting operations, reporting and reconciliation. Documentation content also includes transit devices operation and maintenance services plans, processes and procedures. CDRL technical writing includes understanding contract requirements, researching needs, conducting meetings with peers and customers to collect content, writing, editing, data collecting, and publishing required documents. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Research, understand and ensure that document requirements are met.

  • Collaborate with project/program/product management, engineering and other technical subject matter experts (SMEs) as necessary to collect and organize the required content for documentation.

  • Write documents (CDRL) from process documents, engineering drawings, actual equipment, or descriptions provided by subject matter experts (SMEs).

  • Publish/release documents for formal delivery to the external customer. This includes validating the document internally (via approvals), formally releasing the files via the Configuration Management process, and working with Data Management to formally submit the document(s) to the external customer.

  • Keep records of tasks completed and provide summaries of items needed to complete each CDRL document.

  • Estimate hours for CDRL documents, as needed.

  • Provide status/percent complete to stakeholders periodically and upon request.

  • Provide risk assessments to the program lead with respect to development of CDRL documents.

  • May be required to support other activities to whatever extent their skills and knowledge may allow.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree, or equivalent, plus at least four years' experience writing technical manuals. Familiarity with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality requirements for technical writing. Proficient in WORD, Excel, PowerPoint and VISIO. Graphics art skills and experience is a significant plus. Experience with hardware O&M documentation is a significant plus. Experience with financial and accounting documentation is a plus. Must have strong computer skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.
