SUMMARYResponsible during 12 hour shift for day to day production, operator supervision, safety, environment, yield, and cost for site. Coordinates lab and maintenance service to accomplish quality product on a cost-effective basis for site. This position will report to the Unit Superintendent.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Safety: Responsible for the overall day to day safety for all operating personnel. Conduct daily, weekly, monthly safety meetings as required. Investigate and follow-up on incident/accident reports. Maintain safety awareness throughout the team. Be able to give direction, take lead in the event of an emergency. Incident commander for the plant. Responsible in meeting all the safety and environmental targets.
Responsible for safe, efficient, and cost effective operations of site.
Accountable for product quality must be knowledgeable in feedstock, intermediates and product quality requirements for specific site.
Be expected to troubleshoot operating problems and lead shift team in solving them. Must have working knowledge of the process and utilities.
Expect to be involved heavily into turnaround planning and executions.
Must perform duties as dictated by Quality Management System Level 2, Production Manuals and Level 3.
Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate; promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected. Attend Monthly Safety Meetings to help prevent off site and job accidents.
Responsible for coordinating all the on and off-shift training for all the team members with the Training supervisor.
Monitor and direct on-shift operator job cross training to fulfill cross training progression goals.
Participate and input in site policy changes and development.

Involvement in hiring and choosing operators for the shifts.
Input for operating expense budget. Joint responsibility with the Unit Manager in meeting the yearly expense budget.
Responsible for maintaining all payroll, absenteeism, and overtime records. Generate all shift, vacation, training, and personnel schedules for plant operation.Responsible for using company policies in a fair, equitable and consistent manner.
Be expected to communicate up and down the organization and with other shifts.
Liaison with other groups, i.e. maintenance, engineering, lab, administration and HS&E.
Supervise operators, coordinates lab techs, maintenance techs to meet Standard Operating Procedures and Production schedules to produce premium quality product at specific site.
Coordinate day/night orders and special instructions from the Unit Engineer, Principal Production Engineer or Unit Manager and disperses oral and written instructions to maintain shift continuity.
Coordinate Production and Maintenance to accomplish the upkeep and repairs to equipment including initiation of necessary work orders.
Maintain records, logs, and forms that pertain to equipment, resin production and personnel at specific site.
Conduct necessary training to achieve improved production levels.
Make emergency decisions concerning the shutdown of major equipment to prevent damage.
Participate in monthly and informational meetings.
Perform special projects as assigned and other coordinating activities as required to provide cost-effective operations.ADDITIONAL DUTIES

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
High School graduate.
Minimum 10 years progressive operating experience in a refinery or chemical plant.
Petro II Operator experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or twist. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee will be required to occasionally use bothhands for fine and power grip, and precision and speed work. The employee will be intermittently required to drive a company truck at any given time during the shift on a daily basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment can be high in various areas, as this job requires presence in all areas. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Inside exposure includes but not limited to A/C 70% of the time. Outside exposure includes but not limited to weather, fumes, and dust 30% of the time. May be exposed to slippery, rocky, uneven surface of floor/ground. Job may require working in both closed and open quarters. Lighting may vary from good to poor, depending on location in unit. Exposure to dust, fumes, and gasses will be high.
