Job Description:

Overview

Under general supervision, performs a broad range of duties in the areas of security. Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; logging and directing visitors.

What You'll Do:


  • Works to detect or prevent unauthorized entry.Logs in employees. Manages passenger and truck traffic entering/exiting.

  • Logs in and directs visitors; ensuring that all visitors are aware of Pelican's visitor policy.

  • Monitors alarm systems and electronic surveillance equipment and responds to locally activated fire, burglary or other alarms by reporting incidents to appropriate personnel.

  • Locks and unlocks gates and doors at designated times.

  • Permits authorized personnel entrance to closed or restricted areas within the plant and detains unidentified or unauthorized persons.

  • Observes and reports incidents of visitors or employees to appropriate personnel.

  • Conducts security and fire patrols using a location reader.

  • Relays reports of criminal activity to the appropriate law enforcement jurisdiction and participates in organized searches if a bomb threat is received.

  • Reports safety hazards and/or malfunctioning equipment.

  • Responds to accidents and provides first aid if needed.

  • Completes health screenings as needed.

  • Writes daily activity, incident, traffic accident, and injury reports.

  • May operate miscellaneous equipment and/or motor vehicles as required.

  • May operate or assist with the cleaning of the camera and DVR systems.

  • Provides security to the main lobby and answers all incoming phone calls.

  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows and enforces safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


What You'll Need:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in security or related field.

  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License

  • Must possess a valid Guard Registration Card

  • Professional communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.

  • Current First Aid Card

  • Active listening skills

  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.

  • Basic skillswith Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office

  • Must be able to work the following schedule:12-hour Shifts, Days, Nights, Weekends and Holidays with rotating days off.

  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.

  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.

  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e., stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e., climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
