Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting a Business Analyst to join our Foreign Exchange team.
Position Summary:
This entry level position is being offered as part of a two year program, where the successful candidate will be assigned to the Foreign Exchange Business Analytics team for the first two years, with a follow on role in the Foreign Exchange Trading Department located at our Firm's global headquarters in New York.
The purpose of the program is to lay the foundations for a talented individual to learn the rudiments of foreign exchange and banking concepts through a course of projects, training and rotations with different groups within the FX Department. During the two years she/he will play an important role in analyzing key metrics related to the FX business line in support of the Trading, Sales and Product located in New York, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Upon the successful conclusion of the program, after a formal assessment the candidate will be offered a junior front office role in FX such as Relationship Management, Trading or Product.
Participants in the program will be build a solid knowledge of foreign exchange trading and banking processes needed to be able to participate effectively in all aspects of FX product delivery, and help lead the coordination and execution of the team's data product, analysis and reporting initiatives.
Product design, data governance, testing and implementation, pre-implementation analytics, regulatory reporting, client reporting, transaction cost analysis, post trade performance attribution and business intelligence analytics are critical components of the product offerings of the team, which demonstrate our expertise as an implementation and FX execution outsourcing partner. This places BBH in a position to act as a thought leader and an integral partner in this growing industry where clients look to their providers for essential guidance and insight to the complex nature of Foreign Exchange products.
Entry Level Program - Candidate Opportunities and Responsibilities:
Provide technical and analytical support for FX / Ecommerce projects; contribute ideas and solutions in regular FX Business Analytics/ Product team deliberations
Develop, implement and automate key management reporting, TCA analysis, and post trade attribution assessments based on BBH third party transaction flows; present conclusions to senior departmental representatives
Play an important role in assuring FX data integrity; help improve the dynamic mix of referential FX data across our enterprise
Assess and execute internal and external requests for FX data reporting; determine optimal software tools/ methods of automating the collation and presentation of information
Plan, prioritize, update projects schedules on a regular basis, working with different global business lines and systems departments
Develop proficiency in using standard FX data sources e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters, and BI tools
Attend client and vendor meetings; assist in formulating solutions to meet client needs
Be consistently alert to current FX industry initiatives and trends that impact BBH
Candidate Qualifications include:
4 yr college degree from an accredited institution; completed courses should include one or more of the following - Finance/Accounting/Mathematics (Pure and/or Applied)/ Statistics/ Computer Programming/ Data Analytics/ Econometrics
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
First class organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
Genuine interest in the global financial markets
Knowledge of one or more of MATLAB, SAS, STATA, R, VBA, Python, SQL; Advanced Excel; BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Spotfire a plus
Basic knowledge of standard quantitative financial tools
Proven leadership abilities as exhibited through work/ college experience; excellent references
