Backup CDL Driver/Warehouse Associate

Schedule:First shift hours (no nights or weekends)

Join a team that will make you proud to be a Viking Electric employee. You will facilitate moving product throughout the distribution center with the use of power industrial equipment (PIE). Members of our warehouse team perform a variety of duties involved in packing and checking orders, ensuring the orders are complete, accurate and free of damage.


As a backup delivery driver, you will be called on to fill-in on delivery routes in relief of our full-time driver pool. When acting as a delivery driver, you will work closely with the operations team to coordinate outbound deliveries, including scheduling of specialty equipment when required. Understand daily delivery functions, routes, and transfer system.


City Desk/Warehouse Responsibilities:



  • Assist customers with product orders in person or over the phone

  • Navigate computer programs to find products and complete orders for customers

  • Contribute to dailylocation warehouse/operations responsibilities

  • Picking & packing product for shipment or delivery to customers

  • Some use of power industrial equipment


Backup Delivery Driver Responsibilities:



  • Be the face and reputation of our company while delivering products

  • Maintain D.O.T. Medical Card & Clean Motor Vehicle Record

  • Ensure truck is in safe operating condition and maintains a clean appearance.

  • Communicate with sales associates through problem-solving to meet customer needs.

  • Ability to frequently lift, push, and slide packages that typically weigh up to 50 lbs.

  • Construct pallets based on delivery area preventing stock from being damaged on delivery.

Job RelatedSkills:

  • Ability to frequently lift, push, and slide packages that typically weigh up to 50 lbs.

  • Valid Class B CDL with/Airbrake

  • Clean driving record

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week.

  • Ability to work overtime as needed

  • Attention to detail, good time management and problem-solving skills.






Required Experience


Minimum Experience



  • 1-year commercial driving delivery experience

  • Sales experience preferred

  • Use of technology including mobile devices and RF scanners

  • Experience with the delivery area

  • Experience with warehouse equipment preferred
