DESCRIPTION
This Structural Bridge Technical Manager position will report to the Bridge Department Manager and provide team leadership in technical aspects of bridge design and local standards. The successful candidate will manage projects, provide technical and local knowledge and provide guidance as a senior technical advisor to the team of technical staff to complete engineering and studies in support of bridge and structural civil infrastructure. Project work will specifically focus on bridge, retaining walls, highway, and road projects for Michigan DOT and local agencies. Project management will be part of the overall Technical Manager duties. As a key part of our Detroit, Michigan Structures/Transportation Team, you will work with Michael Baker's senior management and staff to:
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or similar degree with 15 years of bridge related design experience
- A Michigan P.E. the ability to obtain within 6 months. Having a PE or SE registration in other states is a plus
- 5 years of project management experience with Michigan DOT and/or municipalities
- An understanding of AASHTO LRFD design and complex structural analysis software such as Midas or LARSA
- Excellent client management skills; demonstrated ability leading and managing the design and detailing of complex transportation structures, with an emphasis on experience and knowledge of the design, analysis, inspection and maintenance of highway and railroad bridges
- Well established client and colleague relationships and a willingness to help lead proposal efforts
