Position Overview

The Sr. Epic Clarity BI Analyst supports the mission of OCHIN by developing, configuring, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and scoping data services and reporting functions. The Sr. BIA will work closely with clinical, revenue cycle, and technologists on defining the functional requirements relative to various projects related to OCHIN reporting platforms and other technical internal products, projects and initiatives. This position will be heavily involved through the full lifecycle of projects particularly the requirements definitions, quality assurance testing and user acceptance testing phases of projects. This position has strong people connection to our Clinic Membership, to our coworkers at OCHIN and other business partners. It demands an above average ability and desire to communicate in email, via JIRA ticketing response or over the phone.

Essential Duties


  • Display advanced skill with the underlying language of the assigned data system.

  • Responsible for the execution of full lifecycle report creation, complex design, testing, configuration, analysis, and documentation.

  • Serve as a report design and interpretation consultant in strategic internal conversations.

  • Lead, design, build, test, and document complex project work.

  • Participate in cross-departmental projects. Display a deep understand of the OCHIN system.

  • Mentor less experienced analysts.

  • Maintain current Epic proficiency/certification.

  • Scope complex and customized project work; serve as a subject matter expert in reporting systems internally and with members.

  • Lead process improvement efforts.

  • Lead and drive requirement gathering meetings with experts in a variety of fields and define systems scope and objectives of business requirements, including documentation of requirements (i.e., use cases) and relevant translation into system requirement specifications.

  • Consult with less experienced development staff on:

    • The identification and documentation of functional and technical requirements.

    • The design of technical reporting solutions.



  • Develop functional requirements for reporting systems, enhancing, and maintaining existing systems.

  • Act as a consultant to members by training end-users and providing on-going technical support, service, and education.

  • Act as a technical liaison between users of the OCHIN reporting systems and the OCHIN technical reporting environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field

  • Hold at least one current Epic certification in Cogito or Clarity area of focus

  • Experience and knowledge of full software development lifecycles

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workload, manage time effectively, and work under pressure

  • At least 4 years of experience developing reports in Business Objects and Crystal reports or similar reporting tools. This experience should include:

    • Designing, developing, and testing reports

    • Experience optimizing, altering, and maintaining complex reports

    • Working to troubleshoot problems with reports that have been developed by others



  • At least 4 years of experience in working with others to identify, define and analyze end user requirements and timelines designed to meet business needs (a clinical reporting or healthcare financial management reporting background is ideal).

  • At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server and associated tools like Management Studio, Reporting Services, and Integration Services. This includes experience:

    • Developing database objects including Tables, Views, and Stored Procedures

    • Experience and knowledge using SQL and T-SQL for report development initiatives



  • Prefer 2 years of experience working with Epic’s Clarity reporting database

  • Prefer 2 years of experience in a Healthcare setting, Ambulatory or Acute Care settings

  • Prefer 2 years of experience providing technical guidance and direction to less experienced development staff

Work Location and Travel Requirements


  • This position is 100% remote.  Work from home requirements are:


    • Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment.

    • High Speed Internet Service.

    • It is a requirement that employees work in a distraction free workplace.



  • Travel may be required based on business requirements for OCHIN Go-Live events, 1-2 trips per year
