Overview

Otter Products is looking for a RF Antenna Engineer to join our team in Louisville, CO.

The antenna engineer will be responsible for delivering custom antenna and RF solutions for the most advanced wireless products. The position involves requirements definition and analysis, custom design, transition to prototyping and collecting performance data. The position is very much a hands-on hardware delivery role, and is not an academic or research-based role. Individuals who are passionate about solving both technical and business problems should apply.

In the requirements definition and options development phase, the engineer will work cross-functionally to establish product performance metrics which translate to antenna performance metrics. In the design phase, the engineer will use HFSS and other tools to create a custom antenna design for the product against the performance criteria that he or she has been a part of establishing. In the prototyping phase, the engineer will oversee the construction of prototypes based on either standard PCB techniques, or machined or hand-built antennas. In the prototyping phase, the engineer will work closely with a test engineer, a lab manager, the project manager and a bench technician to collect, interpret, quality-check, analyze and report results.

A candidate with a background in RF, particularly antenna design, for wireless products (preferably IoT products) is preferred. If you are ready to grow as an engineer and as a business person, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities

Work closely with a project team which includes a project manager, laboratory manager, test engineer and
laboratory technician to, ultimately, deliver a result to a client involving the performance of a wireless product
• Antenna and RF design using HFSS, tuning, matching and testing


• Antenna and RF project management and reporting, internally and externally


• Prototype construction


• Data collection, results analysis and verification, reduction and reporting.
  
  
  • The ability to inspect a dataset and quality-check it for accuracy and completeness
  
  
  • Data reduction and reporting in a form that is useful to clients
  
  
  • Managing spreadsheets, building slide decks for reports
  
  
  
  


• Antenna electromagnetic simulation using HFSS, FEKO or CST


• Proficient with vector network analyzer (VNA) measurements


• Antenna anechoic / far-field testing


• Experience with Over-the-Air (OTA) product testing is preferred


• Data analysis


• Day-to-day design project management

  • Assist in creating workplans for other laboratory engineers / technicians
  
  
  
  

• Support and maintain a positive safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures and actively contributing to a safe working environment


• Other duties as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering field, likely Electrical or Computer Engineering


• Minimum five years of experience in antenna design for wireless products using electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, FEKO or CST
  • Experience with cellular or cellular IoT products is preferred

USD $75,000.00/Yr.

For US Based Roles Only - Compensation Range Maximum

USD $130,000.00/Yr.
