Job Description:

In 1985, Koch Foods started as a one-room chicken de-boning and cutting operation with 13 employees. We’ve grown to be one of the top poultry processors in the U.S., but the core of who we are remains unchanged: a team that is adept, reliable and service oriented.

Job Summary:

The Buyer is primarily responsible for overseeing the daily production schedule. Communication is a key attribute for the position, keeping plant management, customer service and sale informed throughout the process. 


Must be able to work weekends and extra hours, as needed.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Execute daily production schedule pulling customer orders from Canopy reports, and exporting into an excel spreadsheet 

  • Set production priority based on customer needs and bird availability

  • Review daily bird availability report, sorting out birds needed for customer orders and excess bird availability by size

  • Conduct daily customer requirement log, pulling reports from the Canopy system, and exporting into excel 

  • Set up shipping transfer log, coordinating production schedule with the transfer log ensuring product availability at time of pick up

  • Review daily cooler inventory, managing inventory fulfilling plant orders reviewing over-run and moving accordingly

  • Review plant production, executing production analysis with bird per minute reports, providing line performance on bird availability and order fill rates 

  • Assist with coordinating product availability with outbound trucking schedule

  • Manage customer fill rate percentage ensuring orders are complete 

  • Assist with production bird drops and histogram reports

  • All other relevant duties as required

Job Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, with Bachelor degree preferred

  • 1+ years inventory control and scheduling experience 

  • Basic statistic knowledge 

  • Relevant computer knowledge and skills: Canopy and Microsoft Office and Excel reporting 

  • Ability to review plant production and manage cooler inventory

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented

Physical/Environmental Factors:

Office setting within a plant environment:



  • Cold, damp, wet environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees

  • Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels

  • Bend, stoop, and lift various weights as needed

  • Strong, raw odors
