Senior Application Developer at T-Rex Solutions LLC in LANHAM, Maryland

Job Description:

T-Rex Solutions is looking to select a Senior SoftwareApplicationsDeveloper to support a new program focused on applications development and enterprise services to maintain, enhance, upgrade, develop and modernize program systems. The developer is focused on both the operations and maintenance of current and modernized systems as well as the modernization of mainframe systems in support of new requirements and legislative changes.


Responsibilities:



  • Move data to a modern relational database to replace flat file sequential data stores.

  • Create applications using modern languages and tools to replace applications written in Assembler Language Code (ALC)

  • Replace batch applications with services written in modern languages.

  • Use modern technology such as secure modern portals for Entry Point and Pre-Screening, relational databases for data storage, and shared services for business efficiency.

  • Replace legacy submission processing systems.

  • Standardization of document Entry Point and Pre-Screening, and Validation will lead to continuous improvements in the quality and timely delivery of third-party information.

  • Standardize processes to improve quality of third-party data and provide opportunities for submitters to correct invalid information.

  • Use modern database technology and data models to support new types of Information Return structures with more complex and information rich data relationships.

  • Develop project to have a more effective operational and analytical use of Information Return Data aligned with customer objectives.

  • Modernize legacy Information processing systems with a modern code base, data models, database technology and enterprise services.

  • Design and implement projects to use Open-Source tools found in the Enterprise Standards Profile (ESP).

  • Ability to develop software as part of an Agile team to deliver application enhancements following the Scaled Agile Framework Lean Agile methodology.

  • Develop and deploy software using DevOps tools and rapid delivery practices.

  • Modernize on-premises legacy systems to cloud based microservices.

  • Perform maintenance tasks and O&M support for legacy and new applications using DevOps.

  • Develop design and Architecture documentation and artifacts following applicable SDLC processes.

  • Support the development of project schedules and management plans.

  • Assess and evaluate project requirements.

  • Assess and improve system and application performance.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field, such as Computer Science

  • 7 years of experience in developing Java applications in a team environment.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment, such as scrum.

  • 6 years of experience with researching, designing, developing, or modifying web systems or applications.

  • Good understanding and demonstrated experience applying Java concepts and technologies, web containers such as tomcat or jboss, Spring framework, Web services (REST), JSON and XML

  • 5 years developing solutions integrated with a RDBMS such as Oracle 11g/12c

  • 2 years developing solutions that include MongoDB.

  • Experience applying design principles, design patterns, performance tuning, profiling.

  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

  • Demonstrate good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be effective at communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Knowledge of Rational Suite or similar Agile management tool

  • Knowledge of GitHub, Jenkins, and other DevOps tools

  • Experience implementing automated tests and applying TDD and BDD techniques

  • Experience developing containerized solutions with Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience developing and deploying code in a Cloud environment.
