Director of Inside Sales - Americas

Reporting to the Vice President of the Americas, the Director of Inside Sales is responsible for the development and execution of a strategic sales plan that drives business impact for our customers, career growth for our employees, and sustainable revenue growth for NI and the Sales Region.

The AMER Inside Sales Director will lead a high-impact team of managers across Austin and Costa Rica, whose collective scope encompasses:

  • Enterprise Agreement Software Sales Specialists ("EA SSMs")

  • Inside-owned Books of Accounts ("BoA")

  • Inside-owned T1 Account Fields of Play ("Team Selling")

  • Sales Development Program ("SDE")
  • Priorities for the role:

  • Cultivate an organizational culture where everyone feels connected to our shared purpose and is continually pushing the limits of their development and leadership ability

  • Generate double-digit quarterly revenue growth and a pipeline of innovative customer objectives creating a competitive advantage for our customers and long-term sustainable growth for NI.

  • Coach the sales team, helping them to exceed their goals and develop both personally and professionally

  • Lead cross-functionally with the customer's perspective set the pace, and build account teams comprised of both direct and cross-functional resources required to execute the strategy.

  • Collaborate with the Business Units, Partners, and Services ensuring we deliver high-impact systems to our customers that meet critical customer timelines.

  • Establish relationships with industry leaders to ensure we keep NI at the forefront of technology.

  • Develop a pipeline of world-class talent by actively seeking ways to grow our staff and identify the best of best external talent.
  • Position Overview

    The Regional Sales Director (RSD) is the most Senior Sales leader in an assigned territory. The RSD has ownership and accountability for all sales-related activities in the assigned territory including hiring, quota setting, attainment, employee development, and territory branding. The RSD cultivates and nurtures influential executive relationships at select major accounts in the region. The highly effective RSD uses their coaching and mentoring skills to support their team in individual and professional growth. The RSD will also apply their influence and resources to help their team address potential barriers that impede progress towards achieving regional goals and objectives.

    NI Regional Sales Directors spend most of their time:

  • Supporting the growth of the overall sales pipeline and recommending adjustments in approach.

  • Driving team focus on achieving key sales metrics.

  • Coaching and developing sales managers and account managers.

  • Supporting career development processes.

  • Making decisions aligned to the objectives set with the greater sales organization. They have input into or take the lead on major process changes across the sales organization. They are responsible for regional budgeting.
  • Key Performance Objectives

    1. Achieve annual quota through effective strategy definition, identifying key measures, and holding team accountable to execution.

    2. Team attainment of key performance indicators associated with the account and pipeline management. Ensures a clear understanding of what measures will yield results. Proactively coaches their Regional Sales Managers to construct and execute innovative business plans.

    3. Accurately predicts forecasts by holding all direct reports accountable for understanding customer projects and timelines and ensuring that insight is reflected in our CRM tools. Performs account, objective, and opportunity reviews and works to constantly deepen customer relationships.

    4. Consistently recruits and retains top talent. Hires and develops a strong management team. Guides and supports the team in hiring and developing Account Manager talent. Provides managers with the information and resources they need to achieve success and innovate in their roles.

    5. Builds a customer-focused culture. Regularly seeks and shares feedback. Implements initiatives to act on feedback that provides a competitive edge for the company. Celebrates important customer wins within the organization's initiatives.

    6. Helps facilitate healthy debate and decision-making at the senior leadership level. Networks with other executives outside of Sales to build strong relationships. Willing to compromise for the greater good of NI. Sets goals in partnership with other Directors to ensure alignment. Adjusts goals and implements contingency plans as required to meet budget and respond to changing business conditions. Monitors implementation of new projects. Ends programs or initiatives when appropriate.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will typically have 8 to 10+ years of successful sales management experience at NI, or comparable industry experience. Demonstrates a track record of exceeding sales goals by coaching and leading sales directors and managers.

    Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science, or Business Degree with relevant technical experience. An MBA is a plus.
