Global Payroll & Time and Attendance Leader at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

As a member of PPG's Global People Operations Leadership team, the Global Payroll Director will provide strategic direction for the payroll function, which includes leading the payroll operational activities, while prioritizing an excellent employee experience. You will be the global payroll and time tracking process owner and operational leader, which includes process definition, controls, and transaction processing.

This position may be located in several key regions where PPG has presence, including Europe, Mexico, Malaysia or the United States.

Key Responsibilities: In this role, you will

• Develop a multi-year roadmap for the planning, design, implementation, centralization, communication, and delivery of the payroll technology and process improvement projects, and establish and deploy the global payroll strategy.
• Develop an operating model within the context of a rapidly evolving HR Shared Services model and provide tactical direction to the Payroll Leads across the globe
• Define and implement standard global payroll and time tracking processes; including procedures, technology, scorecards, and controls
• Establish and set operational strategy for end to end pay processes, and ensure processes address customer and regulatory requirements and controls. Drive consistent processes and process improvements around the world and coordinate regional efforts towards global process standardization while allowing local flexibility where required.
• Establish and lead payroll process governance group, and work closely with Legal, Compliance, and Benefits teams to identify, resolve, and avoid payroll compliance issues.
• Oversee the timely preparation, processing, maintenance and appropriate distribution of payroll information, payroll reports, all tax year end reports, payroll manuals and related payroll working instructions
• Lead projects across multi-disciplinary functions of Payroll within allotted time-frames and budgets, including activities arising from M&A. Identify and drive continuous performance improvement projects.
• Direct and audits payroll procedures to include earnings, garnishments, tax withholding, and absence processing globally and ensure compliance with organizational procedures.
• Create and implement best practices, key performance indicators and SLA metrics, and monitor all contributing processes to the SLAs and metrics.
• Establish partnerships with third party vendors to ensure effective service delivery, and ensure all service level and terms are managed.
• Coach, mentor and provide leadership development to team members to optimize operational excellence and create a deeper bench of experienced talent

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years' experience in global HR and payroll in a complex global enterprise, with 10+ years' experience supervising global teams
• Expertise in payroll technology and experience working with payroll vendors & platform technologies
• Proven success leading a payroll function transformation to maximize automation, scalability and cost effectiveness required;
• Experience leading time and attendance programs, setting up payroll requirements for new tax entities, and M&A activities.
• Strong leadership skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to confidently present complex information to all levels of the organization.
• Certification in project management and/or a lean or Six Sigma certification is preferred.
• Advanced fluency in English is required, both oral and written.
