Position Overview
This is an internship/trainee position working to gain further experience in the ready-mix concrete industry. This position involves supporting and working under an experienced lab manager or field personnel.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Work as a field representative, lab QC tech or production assistant
Learn about the various materials used to produce concrete (Cement, SCM’s, Aggregates, etc.)
Learn how to build and test concrete mix designs in accordance with ACI, ASHTTO, and project specific specification’s
Learn and adhere to Federal DOT hours of service
Learn and understand safety procederes of a Batch Plant (Lockout Tagout, Confined space, Working at Heights and Arc Flash)
Be able to perform safety observations and give imediate feedback to employees
Learn and understand SEE STOP AND DO
Learn proper field testing of concrete – Slump and Air tests
Qualifications

Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Current enrollment in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field degree program

Work Requirements
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. .
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute, rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.

Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
