JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Department Supervisor, the Lead will coordinate, delegate, and communicate with team members to assign duties, set clear team goals and deadlines, address concerns, and troubleshoot problems.  They will act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration.  The Lead is accountable for inspiring and executing strategies while achieving optimum safety, quality, service, productivity, and profitability.

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: These job functions relate to the job, not the individual.)


  • Ability to perform all duties and expectations assigned to each position in department.   

  • Ensure that team members understand, follow and enforce all established safety, health, quality, Food Safety, GMP, and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.

  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them.

  • Answer team member questions, provide product and technical expertise, help with team member problems, and oversee team member work for quality and guideline compliance and provide coaching and mentoring as needed.

  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.

  • Ensure all records completed by team members are completed timely and accurately.

  • Ensure that non-conforming material is clearly identified and segregated.

  • Assign work orders to team members and ensure the accuracy and completion of each. 

  • Ensure that the escalation procedure for Quality or Food Safety concerns is followed.

  • Responsible for training of operators (current and new) on products and processes within the team.

  • Communicate team goals and deadlines , day to day targets and responsibilities, best practices, continuing expectations, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables through team and individual meetings. 

  • Provide feedback to the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements and delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements.

  • Ensure full adherence to 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practices at all times.

  • Support Shift Supervisor and perform supervisory duties when supervisor is absent or out of office.

  • Perform any other job-related duties requested by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent education.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience and/or training in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred. 

  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English with s trong oral and written communication skills.

  • Requires good mathematical ability to perform quality related calculations, good analytical skills, and effective interpersonal communication skills to work constructively in a team environment.

  • Must be able to drive a forklift and can pass the test for Forklift Operators License.

  • Ability to exercise considerable initiative/judgement in time-management, decision-making, problem-solving, motivation, and leadership of the team.

  • Ability to lead by example, gain respect from the team and communicate with people at all levels of the organization whilst demonstrating excellence in approach to work and people activities.

  • Ability to plan, analyze, challenge, and manage a wide variety of activities at the same time and accomplish tasks accurately while working under pressure.

  • Ability to recognize trends, situations and risks to product quality or food safety, and to timely and properly communicate those findings.

  • Work independently, reviewed infrequently with minimal supervision.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the willingness and ability to learn new systems.

  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work.

  • Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor is a plus.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques is a plus.
