Import Transportation Analyst at Arhaus in Boston Heights, Ohio

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  1. Work with vendors, freight forwarder and carriers to make sure inbound shipments are booked and shipped timely, and in the most cost-efficient method.

  2. Work with freight forwarder to manage carrier allocation matrix per each origin to ensure completion of freight contract MQC.

  3. Monitor/utilize exception reporting and take proactive action as needed to ensure the timely delivery of inbound shipments.

  4. Ensure that all required documents and systems updates are processed in a timely manner.

  5. Build strategic and ethical relations with internal clients and external vendors.

  6. Monitor vendor and carrier KPI report and work with them to resolve issues and improve performance.

  7. Continually analyze processes and make recommendations for process/efficiency improvements.

  8. Maintain import container manifest information accuracy for warehouse unloading and inventory receiving.

  9. Communicate to receiving associates on inbound delivery schedules.

  10. Implement reporting tools including vendor shipment detailed information for the international order/shipment program.

  11. Monitor and report monthly in transit value of goods to accounting and logistics management.

  12. Work with dray carrier daily for container drop-hook practice and ensure containers are pulled and returned timely to avoid demurrage and detention.

  13. Audit all international freight invoices for accuracy and timely submission to accounting.

  14. Monitor/utilize exception reporting and take proactive action as needed to ensure the timely delivery of inbound shipments.

  15. Work with freight forwarder to provide air quote and make sure air shipments are moved in appropriate service level.

  16. Work with stores and buying team to provide sea / air quote and solutions to international orders that need to ship from warehouse to other countries.

  17. Work with import compliance team to make sure import shipments comply with organization policy, local, country and international law and processes.

  18. Participate in logistical studies and provide logistics training to internal parties.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business; preferred in supply chain or related field

  • Experience: 3-5 years international logistics experience. Working background with ocean carriers, freight forwarders/consolidators, customhouse brokers and harbor dray carriers. Work experience in retail industry preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Office

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills

  • Ability to excel as a team player

  • Customer-centric vision for top-line growth but cost-focused for bottom-line results

  • Detail oriented
