Overview

VHB's growing Watertown, MA office is seeking an entry-level Transportation/Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private and institutional projects within broad cross-section of markets, including municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal lands and aviation.

About the Position

Transportation/Traffic Engineer | Watertown, MA

Responsibilities

• Working within a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects


• Traffic impact studies


• Safety studies


• Transportation planning analyses


• Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics


• Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports


• Traffic data collection and tabulation


• Intersection and roadway level of service analyses


• Development, analysis and evaluation of traffic improvements


• Roadway and intersection conceptual design

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills


• Self-motivated


• Attention to detail


• Ability to think critically


• Strong computer skills


• Excel in working in a team environment

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field


• 0-3 years of professional civil/transportation engineering/planning experience


• Experience with AutoCAD a plus


• Experience with Synchro, Vissim, and/or HCS a plus


• Experience with ArcGIS a plus
