VP, Business Operations

The VP Business Operations will work closely with Digital Chief Operating Officer & Data Strategy, extended senior leadership team and others within the digital organization to move the digital business forward. Reporting to this role will be the vertical GM team as well as the Senior Director of Conversion/Retention.

This position will partner across all areas to drive growth in:


  • Sessions - will need to both be adept at forecasting sessions so that revenue forecasts are accurate as well as working across teams to ensure that appropriate tactics and tracking are in place to grow sessions YoY

  • Advertising - for instances where a consumer focus (ex: additional content/programs within specific categories) can help generate incremental revenue

  • Consumer Revenue - work to ensure that teams understand the relative ROI of various options so that overall Meredith revenue can be maximized

In addition, the position will:


  • Help develop the digital strategy and the KPIs that support that strategy

  • Work with corporate development on any M&A related activities

  • Spearhead projects/initiatives where appropriate

Responsibilities:


  • Manage general management of the digital group including all vertical GMs. Includes development of KPIs relating to key initiatives and monitoring of progress to both those KPIs as well as overall growth at each of the brands. Teams will work across departments to ensure strategies are in place at each vertical to meet goals and grow the business.

  • Lead key initiatives across the organization where appropriate, including identifying clear objectives/goals, assembling appropriate team members as well as setting timelines and check-ins (examples: video product testing, known user growth, etc.)

  • Partner with all areas of the digital organization to help identify opportunities for incremental growth (revenue, consumer, sessions, etc.) and help develop succinct plans that can be presented to key players

  • Work with Digital SLT and Corp Development on any M&A related opportunities

  • Other special projects to be defined

Requirements:


  • BS/MBA in Finance, Marketing or Business

  • 15+ years finance, corporate development, operations, or similar field; prior digital media experience preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of digital operations and ability to work across entire organization and manage diverse teams

  • Ability to work collaboratively with editorial, growth marketing, and product to develop short- and long-term strategy and innovation for assigned sites; must be able to communicate this strategy and translates it into growth models (ROI) that helps to:

    • Establish priorities (both allocation of resources and money),

    • Develop both vertical and brand level OKRs,

    • Prioritize testing plans to ensure that site goals are achieved, and

    • Monitor progress toward both OKRs and testing plans




  • Must be a highly logical thinker that can understand when complex vs. back of the napkin estimates are needed and possess the skills to build models quickly and comfortably

  • Possess leadership skills that earn respect/credibility

  • Skilled and experienced negotiator with track record of complex deals.

  • Highly effective person who can inspire and motivate success in others.

  • Creative thinker with superb strategic sensibilities.

  • Comfortable within a team first vs me first environment
