Aftenro is seeking TMAs to assist with full shift med pass on day shift. As we do block scheduling, employees are able to build their schedules to meet work/life balance needs out of available days. At this time there are 3 (8) hour day shifts available, if more hours are preferred can pick up on other shifts or as CNA to fill a block as desired.
I. Purpose
Under the supervision and direction of a licensed nurse, prepares, administers and records select oral, nasal, topical ointments, transdermal, rectal, inhalant, and ophthalmic medications to residents. Trained to measure and record blood pressure and radial and apical pulse. Can also perform simple dressing changes.
II. Qualifications
Education: Current licensure in the State of Minnesota as a Nursing Assistant Registered.
Current certification in the State of Minnesota as a Trained Medication Assistant
experience: Previous long- term care experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Listen to shift report and keep open lines of communication with supervisor, co-workers and on-coming shiftAttend continuing education and team meetings as scheduled and/or assigned.Report occupational exposures to needle-sticks, blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy and procedures governing accidents and incidentsDevelop and maintain a good working relationships with inter-departmental personnel.Attend nurses meetings as appropriateMaintain a clean, safe and efficient work environmentMaintains continuing education requirementsA. Resident Care Functions
Maintains competence in all required skills within the facilityTreats and ensures that residents are treated with respect and dignityImmediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect per Aftenro policyConsults with licensed nurse prior to administering prn medicationsUses and documents accordingly appropriate pain scale, and non-medication interventions prior to administering prn medicationAdministers prescribed medications, scheduled controlled medication, and simple treatments per MD orders, under the supervision of a licensed nurseIs knowledgeable of medication, dosage, route of administration, and reports side effects, interactions, and potential allergic reactionsReports level of pain, resident response, side effects, and problems or potential problems to a licensed nurseDocuments in an accurate and timely manner according to policies and procedures of the facilityFollows all shift routines and policies and proceduresHas knowledge of, and complies with all safety and emergency protocolsFollows all DNR/DNI/CPR/Comfort Care protocols and ordersOther duties assigned as directed by supervisorDocumentation and Reporting:
Documents as appropriate, and reports all incidents, accidents that occur involving residents, visitors, and staffDocuments signature, and initials on medication/treatment administration record that exhibits an informative and descriptive manner reflecting the care provided and resident responseCompletes medication error document and reports errors to licensed nurseMonitor need for and orders from the pharmacy, resident's medication supplies and stock supply. Contacts pharmacy for refills per policy. Stocks medication cartPer policy files and signs medication supply, delivery, and associated records, within parameters of TMA practiceParticipate in the MDS/RAI process as determined by facility policyB. Physical Requirements
Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling, bending, and stooping movementAbility to adapt to changes in daily work hours and scheduleMust be able to lift a minimum of 50 poundsMust be in good general healthJob Functions
