Job Description:

The Production IT Systems Specialist reports to the Machining Maintenance Manager and indirectly to the IT Manager and is the primary Subject Matter Expert for the Production IT environment. They provide support for a variety of services that are not housed in the office environment. They act as a resource in the area of production clients, servers, networks, and support systems. Minimize interruptions in computer services to clients by monitoring the various systems to recognize and prevent (whenever possible) or reduce interruptions in services). Ensures adequate retention/back-up of production-related server/software configuration and data. Develop applications using different Databases and software to attend to the production demands. This position requires a strong commitment to safety.


  • Maintains the Production PC environment including data collection and recipe servers as well as backup, file, and directory services.

  • Assists FT IT with all production IT-infrastructure related tasks

  • Build and manage databases using languages such as MySQL, SQL Server, MariaDB

  • Create database interfaces using PHP protocol

  • Understanding of visual web programming including HTML5, CSS3 or Vuetify framework to develop live sites related to the production environment

  • Logical web programming using JavaScript, VUeJs

  • Installs troubleshoots and maintains a repository of production client software. This includes software directly related to production needs. Specific packages include LIS, Modula, and Telesis as some examples. Responsible for testing and installing upgrades promptly.

  • Monitors Production networks. Coordinates with Quality/Process/Maintenance Engineers to monitor and troubleshoot problems related to the production network.

  • Responsible for Active Directory issues related to Production such as the creation of new Organizational Units and Group Policies.

  • Plans and coordinates Production IT projects. Works in conjunction with BU Production IT teams to align/develop project scope and to ensure project stays on time and on budget.

  • Monitors and maintains support agreements and maintenance contracts related to the Production IT environment.

Education/Credentials/Certifications

  • 2 year AAS degree in Computer Science/Technical discipline required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field Preferred


Experience

  • 3 years hands-on hardware support and systems administration experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Windows 2007/2010/2013 support experience required.

  • Database and Web programing experience required.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Must have a strong technical knowledge of Windows, PC Hardware, LAN protocols, WAN connectivity, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Voice over IP, Internet/Intranet technologies, and working knowledge of common IT related functions to support a growing enterprise.

  • Must be able to multi-task and be flexible.

  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Must be a team player with good organizational and planning skills and willing to provide off -hours support.

  • Thorough knowledge of network internals, software, hardware and design.

  • Capable of independent research

  • Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts.

  • Good problem analysis and resolution skills.

  • Attention to detail.
