While reporting to the Department Manager, you will be responsible for performing tasks necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work with various teams and be an effective problem solver. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.

Day to day responsibilities include:

Summary- Primary Functions:

  • Ensures materials are staged for production processes (press, lam, slitting, bag, and pouch)

  • Responsible for accurate identification and inventory of WIP/Raw Materials

  • Responsible for maintaining a neat and organized work area (Warehouse, Scrap Dock, Outside Storage)

Essential Functions:


  • Review schedule at beginning of shift to determine priorities

  • Verify pallet sheets match pallet contents

  • Storing of laminated rolls during cure period

  • Palletizing of laminated rolls after the cure period (oldest first)

  • Returning unused materials to storage

  • Staging film and materials for next shift

  • Accurately maintain inventory of WIP/Raw Materials

  • Communicate any issues to team leader or production manager

  • Keep scrap dock clean and organized

  • Waste totes/bins emptied on a regular basis

  • Operates forklift and other equipment to move materials through department processes.

  • Performs vehicle safety check on forklift at beginning of each shift with OSHA compliance

  • Follows all plant safety rules and regulations.

  • Maintains work area in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion and observes cleaning schedule.

  • Assists with year-end inventory and cycle counts

This position is located in Hickory, NC


  • You will need to have basic math skills

  • You will need to be able to read and interpret work orders

  • Must have experience operating a fork lift or lift truck

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum one (1) year work experience in related field preferred.

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend written and verbal English language.
