We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoc Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr. Jun J. Yang in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Successful candidates will work on projects related to pharmacogenomics of nucleobase and nucleoside analog (NNA) drugs, supported by our new NIH R35 grant. This project is aimed to identify genetic variants associated with the metabolism and activity of a wide array of NNA drugs, both as anti-cancer and anti-viral agents. Expanding upon our discovery of NUDT15 polymorphism as a major pharmacogenetic driver of thiopurine toxicity (Nat Genet 2016 48:367, PNAS 2020 117:5394), these studies will combine computational biology analyses of large clinical datasets with mechanistic work, especially in large-scale function genomic screen.
The successful applicant will have opportunities to develop new skills and work in a world-class scientific environment with full access to cutting-edge tools and technologies. This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic experimental biologist to ask innovative questions in pharmacogenomics and then translate laboratory findings to genomics-based precision medicine while working in a lab with a strong track record of success.
