The position is well-suited for talented individuals whose background and interests include environmental and water resources engineering and science.As a Staff Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in Los Angeles, CA, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to related hydrology and hydraulics, water resources systems planning and analysis, groundwater-surface water interactions, hydrogeology, data analysis and reporting, and water quality support of NPDES, TMDLs, and CSOs driven by CWA requirements, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:



  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis and modeling;

  • Water resources systems analysis;

  • Water supply planning;

  • Spatial analysis and database management;

  • Numerical modeling;

  • Literature review and synthesis;

  • Helping broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences;

  • Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps; and

  • Watershed planning, stormwater management, and TMDL implementation.

Here are some other things you should know about this position:




  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, boater certification, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.


  • Fieldwork: Up to 20%


  • Overnight travel: Up to 10%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE



  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science or closely related field with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)

  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science, or closely related field with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred)

  • Engineer in Training (preferred)


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis and modeling. (required)

  • Water resources systems analysis. (required)

  • Professional water resources related experience. (preferred)

  • Water supply planning. (preferred)

  • Experience with programming such as Python, R, or ability to learn to use other coding platforms. (required)

  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)

  • Experience or interest in groundwater modeling. (preferred)

  • Experience or interest in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). (preferred)

  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
