Job Description:

The Ultra Sales & Marketing function is responsible for growth of the business development opportunity. Through good business development practices and strong, senior-level customer interaction this function will deliver the defined business opportunities and develop a marketing strategy that demonstrates achievable levels of profitable growth in line with the overall business plan. This function is instrumental in setting the strategy for the business for all aspects of marketing and sales.

  • This is an exciting role working for the VP, Business Development and with the global Signature Management and Power (SMaP) team to represent our Power product line. He/she will develop opportunities with defense contractors, US Government agencies and other related industries. We are in a great position to capture growth with leading edge technology, developed in our UK and US campus'.

  • Develop new technical relationships with prospective customers and program personnel. Expand on current customer relationships within the defense communities by exploiting technologies and business solutions from the SMaP OBU across the group.

  • Prepare and present briefings to convey technical and customer service capabilities

  • Perform a market analysis by collecting data of existing power conversion technologies within the defense communities and future trends. Include competitor information.

  • Ensure adherence to the Group Operating Manual and other Group processes and guidelines

  • Ensure the effectiveness of the business development process including pursuit plans (game plans) and CRM.

  • Understand the power conversion market dynamics, competitive landscape and growth drivers.

  • Collate, review, and communicate the information to management and engineering personnel.

  • Advise strategic "next moves", IR&D projects and business capture plans.

  • Lead technical capture teams to create win strategies. Develop the win strategy and proposal effort.

  • Recommend possible teaming arrangements created from within the group and from external sources.

  • Manage the technical and cost proposal effort.

  • Ensure adherence to your limits of authority as defined in the current Delegated Financial Authority documentation.

  • Set and control department budget.

Leadership:


  • Responsible for the management, leading and coaching of team members defined as direct reports on the organization chart.

  • Conduct performance reviews with team members, setting objectives to ensure performance standards are met or improved.

  • Conduct regular one to one meetings with team members to discuss workload, progress, training and development needs and address performance issues.

  • Identify resource requirements and conduct interviews and assessments to ensure effective recruitment and selection processes.

  • Identify training and development needs for staff and action training requests as required to expand their skills, aligning their needs with the business strategy and regulatory requirements.

  • Encourage the sharing and retention of knowledge and experience within the business through effective mentoring of team members and colleagues.

  • Formulate effective succession plans and review regularly to ensure the skills and knowledge required to fulfil key roles are met through continuous training, development and mentoring in line with OSDP requirements.

Required Skill:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Combined 10+ years of Engineering and or technical sales in the defense and aerospace marketplaces

  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.

Desired:


  • A successful track record of working in US Government, defense programs.

  • A proven track record

  • Demonstrated ability to work with the US Government and prime contractor acquisition

  • A thorough understanding of program funding streams and the ability to identify, engage and liaise strategic and program decision makers.

  • Skill at developing and managing technical proposals; strong technical writing and presentation skills, and superior desktop computer skills.

  • A working knowledge of business development planning and market analysis processes.

  • Customer relationship, presentation and negotiating skills

  • Ability to promote and encourage a culture of teamwork.

  • Ability to solve complex problems effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to utilize business, practical and procedural knowledge to effectively influence others and achieve results.

  • Ability to manage difficult situations effectively; demonstrating resilience and perseverance when faced with a challenge.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to adopt a flexible and proactive approach.

  • PC literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel to at least intermediate level.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to travel (mainly air travel) up to 50% of the time.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and US Passport
