Position Summary/Objective

The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. You will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace and delivering required safety training to employees. In this role, you will be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and enforce safety policies to establish a culture of health and safety


• Conduct assessments in our Manufacturing, laboratories, and warehouse facilities to determine compliance with OSHA, EPA, and client requirements


• Participate in regular safety walk throughs to identify any unsafe conditions, GMP non-compliance, and opportunities for improvement


• Investigate and contribute to the resolution of employee occupational safety near misses and incidents


• Implement, manage, and conduct required safety training programs for all Global Widget employees


• Assist with EHS Process improvement projects


• Development and completion of health, safety, and environmental awareness checklists and forms


• Participate in the development and implementation of beneficial programs/projects aimed at improving employee safety, ergonomics, process safety management, and emergency response systems


• Collaborate with all Global Widget staff, Human Resources, Production personnel, Engineering, and other functional disciplines


• Lead initiatives that impact the organization and drive change toward redesigning processes to embed safe work practices as measured by number of projects implemented and injury and cost reductions.


• Coordinate resources to provide safety services to operations to positively influence employee behaviors and work environment


• Prepare and present management reports sufficient to identify the frequency, severity and expense of company losses


• Manage Workers Compensation Program and claims activities to reduce the overall cost of claims as measured by average cost per claim, lost workdays and open/closed claims

Requirements

• Bilingual English/Spanish STRONGLY PREFERRED


• OSHA 30 Hour Certification


• 5+ years safety experience in a safety specialist or manager role for a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment


• Solid knowledge of EHS standards, industry regulatory standards in manufacturing and warehousing with the ability to communicate such standards to others.


• Excellent public speaking abilities.


• Energetic, ambitious, assertive and an excellent communicator.


• Workers Compensation Regulations experience


• Experience in training staff and managers


• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast- paced, team- focused environment


• Self-motivation and the ability to learn new assignments quickly


• Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
