The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.
Position Summary:
PACCAR Technical Center Advanced Analytics is looking for a Data Engineer interested in leveraging big data technologies to gain insights into our customer experience. A successful candidate will be curious, self-driven, analytical and excited to play with data.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Interface with internal stakeholders, gather requirements and deliver complete Data Engineering, Data Storage, and BI solutions
Design and develop schema definitions and support data storage solution to enable integration of disparate data sources from within PACCAR and outside, aggregate it and make it available for analysis
Design and develop ETL jobs across multiple platforms and tools
Build and operationalize data pipelines and decision support models
Support large data volumes and accommodate flexible provisioning of new sources
Proactively identify and develop expertise in new technologies, methodologies, and techniques
Work cross-functionally with various PACCAR teams
Be a technical leader: Mentoring junior engineers, new team members, and applying technicalexpertise to challenging data and design problems
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other equivalent discipline
5+ years in relevant experience as data engineer, software engineer, business intelligence engineer, or equivalent developing DB schemas, creating ETLs, and familiar with MPP/Hadoop systems
Experience data modeling and transformation of large scale data sources using SQL, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, EMR, or other Big Data technologies
Experience building data pipelines using Kinesis, Spark, AWS Lambda or similar technologies
Strong knowledge of at least one scripting languages
Must have been through several full life cycles Data Warehousing implementations and involved in scalability and performance related design aspects in Database and ETL
Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
Initiative on solving problems and completing tasks in a reasonable time frame
Ability to work cross-functionally, building and maintaining trust with internal stakeholders
Strong written, verbal communication skills
A positive, can-do attitude
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Experience with Warranty Data and/or Diesel Engines a plus
Experience building Java services, or Docker Microservices
Experience building APIs
Knowledge of non-relational database systems
