An operating group of The Andersons, Inc., the Trade Group specializes in the movement of physical commodities such as whole grains, feed ingredients and energy products.

We are hiring a Profit Center Manager (grain general manager) to lead operations and merchandising activities for our Delphi Grain facility as well as grain originations and merchandising for our Clymers location. This position will also be responsible for cross-country trading activities in the area.

Position Overview

Leads, develops, implements and manages all aspects of merchandising strategies and plans for the Clymers and Delphi profit centers.

Directs the operations for the Delphi Grain facility by planning and ensuring execution of all aspects of plant operations, maintenance, construction, and capital improvements through the best utilization of personnel, equipment, and capital.

Key Responsibilities




  • Manages the day-to-day business activity within a Profit Center/Trading business, maximizing positions, volumes expenses, and net profit




  • Develops and manages merchandising and sales relationships for all commodities and products in an assigned segment, line of business, and/or region.




  • Manages merchants and staff associated with the business.




  • Communicates with merchandising and sales teams regarding market conditions and trading opportunities in assigned areas.




  • Responsible for all business activity including but not limited to; adhering to merchandising policies, managing trade risk, AR, AP, problem resolution




  • Managing logistics crucial to the essential needs of the business




  • Prepares and recommends annual plans and establishes goals




  • Identifies new and/or modifies existing strategies and/or merchandising methods to meet or exceed volume and profit goals reflected in annual plans.




  • Develop, recommend, and implement an organizational structure along with annual expense, capital, workforce, and training plans necessary to meet objectives for safety, efficiency, customer service and profitability of the assigned locations.




  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, safety and accomplishment of financial objectives.




  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement controls and measures of efficiency, quality, compliance and risk mitigation.




  • Ensure key operating data is accessible and formatted in a manner that effectively communicates results and trends to the operations team and group leadership teams.




  • Ensure collaboration and coordination with group sales functions and company/group service departments.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills




  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred




  • 7-10 years' relevant experience required




  • Proven ability to develop and execute on merchandising strategies




  • Proven successful leadership experience
