Job Description:

Glaukos Corporation is an ophthalmic medical technology and pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel surgical devices and sustained pharmaceutical therapies designed to transform the treatment of glaucoma, one of the world’s leading causes of blindness. The company believes the iStent inject,® measuring 0.23 mm wide and 0.36 mm long, is the smallest medical device ever approved by the FDA. In June 2015, Glaukos completed an initial public offering and our shares are now traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “GKOS”. The company was founded in 1998 and is based in San Clemente, California.

How will you make an impact?  

The Product Manager, will be responsible for global in-market product promotion & marketing including the development and production of promotional materials, advertising and digital materials. Also supports trade PR with cross-functional coordination of podium/abstract/peer review activities. Will research, develop and propose pricing strategies. Role will support efforts for market adoption and account penetration initiatives including practice development, optometric outreach and patient and consumer education programs and will also will support Marketing team with KOL development and outreach initiatives.

What will you do? 


  • Product Promotion and Marketing

  • Develop, implement and deliver marketing plans to achieve department goals and agreed to metrics.

  • Develop and produce all sales support materials including brochures, spec sheets, videos, web and iPad content

  • Create advertising and manage media placement

  • Research, develop and implement market-specific pricing strategies

  • Develop, monitor and forecast key performance metrics for targeted account participation and penetration to support business initiatives.

  • Plan and manage expenses to annual budget

  • Practice Development and Patient Education

  • Manage implementation of GPS program and optimize field execution

  • Evolve programs and support materials to improve practice penetration

  • Revise/update/improve practice and patient/consumer education materials

  • Work with RBMs, CHSMs and field-based reimbursement employees to identify barriers to success in ASCs and Hospital Outpatient departments and to develop programs to successfully address these issues

  • Develop and implement targeted DTC strategy and tactical plan

  • Optometric Initiatives

  • Create and direct optometric engagement programs

  • Develop and implement targeted OD education initiatives

  • Track metrics and evolve programs as necessary for optimal results

  • Establish relationships with identified OD KOL targets (see below)

  • KOL Support (OD & MD)

  • Support regular communication, data and education to KOLs to ensure message alignment through all media (podium, print, peer-to-peer).

  • Collaborate with KOL group for informal market research in developing new promotional materials

  • Attend key congresses to support and engage customers and KOLs

  • Regular field travel to deepen relationships and increase knowledge base

  • Trade Journal, Podium, and Peer Review Presence

  • Collaborate within department to implement trade journal exposure plan

  • Coordinate with Clinical Research and Medical Affairs to ensure data flow and optimal podium & peer review presence

  • Update slides sets and speaker training materials as needed for message consistency

  • Manage trade PR vendor relationship

How will you get here? 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business or Marketing. Advanced degree or MBA is preferred.

  • 5+yrs of medical device, pharmaceutical industry experience. Marketing experience preferred within ophthalmic surgical or pharmaceutical areas. Experience managing people within the marketing function with a global scope and a track record of success preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to speak to all levels of the organization

  • Solid industry working knowledge with existing KOL relationships. Ability to develop and build relationships with all constituents quickly, both internally and externally, to drive results

  • Cross functional knowledge and strong interpersonal skills within a team environment to influence others toward business results. Including Finance, RA/QA, Sales/Marketing, Ops, Business Development, Product Development and Clinical Training.
