Job Description:

Glaukos Corporation is an ophthalmic medical technology and pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel surgical devices and sustained pharmaceutical therapies designed to transform the treatment of glaucoma, one of the world’s leading causes of blindness. The company pioneered Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery, or MIGS, in order to revolutionize the traditional glaucoma treatment and management paradigm. Glaukos launched the iStent®, its first MIGS device, in the United States in 2012 and is leveraging its platform technology to build a comprehensive and proprietary portfolio of micro-scale injectable therapies designed to address the complete range of glaucoma disease states and progression. The company’s second-generation MIGS device, the iStent inject® Trabecular Micro-Bypass System, was approved by the Food and Drug Administration, or FDA in June 2018. The company believes the iStent inject,® measuring 0.23 mm wide and 0.36 mm long, is the smallest medical device ever approved by the FDA. In June 2015, Glaukos completed an initial public offering and our shares are now traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “GKOS”. The company was founded in 1998 and is based in San Clemente, California.

How will you make an impact?  

The Sr. Manager, Consumer and Digital Marketing, will lead the consumer and digital marketing functions across the organization (Glaucoma, Corneal Health, Corporate) and establish multi-channel marketing and communications strategies, plan objectives and tactics that will drive business results. This person will define and implement the marketing mix (collateral, advertising, website, CRM, PR, social media, digital marketing, etc.) and manage budgets to achieve goals.

What will you do? 


  • Develop and execute consumer & digital marketing strategy in close collaboration with commercial leadership and brand teams

  • Develop and oversee tactical implementation of the consumer brand plan for the Corneal Health & Glaucoma franchises (including but not limited to CRM, social media, content development, SEM and digital advertising) to raise brand awareness, drive engagement, conversion, retention and loyalty

  • Develop and oversee tactical implementation of the corporate digital strategy to maximize lead generation and lead nurture efforts, including management of all company websites & campaign landing pages, SEO, ECP-facing digital ad campaigns, SEM, email campaigns via Constant Contact and Pardot, CRM

  • Identify and monitor key performance metrics and optimize programs and initiatives to monitor effectiveness of multi-channel campaigns and maximize ROI

  • Evaluate and implement technology to support business requirements

  • Understand patient organization landscape and develop patient organization & advocacy strategy

  • Manage the internal legal, regulatory, and medical review and approval of new materials to ensure compliance with FDA regulations

  • Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional partners (Legal, Regulatory, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Sales etc) in developing patient/consumer and digital assets, to ensure aligned objectives and implementation across all functions

  • Manage Marketing Manager, in addition to outside consultants, agencies, and vendors

  • Manage applicable budgets

How will you get here? 


  • BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, Science or relevant degree; MBA preferred

  • 7 years of Marketing experience, within the pharmaceutical space (medical experience essential)

  • US drug product launch experience

  • Experience developing and implementing communication campaigns that adhere to product brand and corporate standards

  • Experience with relevant software applications. (Microsoft Office, In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, WordPress, Constant Contact, Pardot) 

  • Technical savviness to explore and use emerging communication channels

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, changing work environment

  • Experience working cross-functionally and collaboratively with regulatory, R&D, and quality

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and leadership skills

  • Digital marketing technology experience

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Excellent analytical skills, well organized, detail oriented

  • High energy level with willingness to push the envelope

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced organization
