Global Development Center Leader - Beverage Inside Spray at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Milford, Ohio

Job Description:

The Global Development Center Leader - Beverage Inside Spray position will lead a team of chemists, engineers, and technicians to develop new coatings products for inside beverage applications! The position is responsible for managing multiple technical projects that address unmet needs in the Packaging Coatings market. Working closely with the Technical and Commercial Leadership, the leader will responsible for setting team's direction, driving execution of the projects, effective communication, and ensuring portfolio alignment with the global Packaging business!

Responsibilities

• Review and develop a complete understanding of PPG Packaging Coatings for Beverage products and their use.
• Maintain and optimize the team project portfolio including interfacing with COMPASS stage gate process and Oracle Project Life-Cycle Analytics (OPLA).
• Lead the team in driving the execution of current portfolio.
• Work with PPG's Coatings Innovation Center (CIC) to deepen understanding of fundamental Beverage Packaging Coatings science and relate the findings to customers' experience.
• Understand and interface with global market leaders and customers.
• Host customers' visits and travel to customers' sites as necessary.
• Present team progress to PPG leadership.
• Coordinate innovation activities between PPG S&T and Development labs.

Qualifications

• MS level degree (Ph.D. is preferred) in Chemistry or related field.
• 10 years' experience minimum in Coatings-Technical roles, with a proven record of accomplishment in technical leadership and technical achievements.
• Ability to manage across other regions will be critical to your success.
• Strong problem solving skills including demonstrable market and customer awareness are essential.
• Ability to lead and engage diverse teams and interface effectively with all levels and functions of the organization.
• Experience and skills of working effectively in a matrixed organization.
• Knowledge in managing technical projects in a global market environment is required.
