Overview

Provide overall management of Church Mutual Group physical security and safety programs, procedures and practices to ensure the safety and security of company employees and property locally and nationally. Communicate and ensure compliance with company security programs including the development and maintenance of security risk assessment plans. Manage the relationship with all government, emergency, law enforcement agencies and any relevant business continuity leaders to assure joint coordination. Manager and direct all physical security and safety staff, vendors and contract guard staff to ensure they are properly trained and informed on security plans, procedures, threats, trends and related security techniques. Partner with other company functions to minimize and mitigate consequences of threats and risks to the company. Lead efforts to develop plans, training, and exercises to increase employee awareness. Supervisor responsibilities to include staffing, training and development, performance management, and work force planning.

Responsibilities

    Develop, implement, and direct company safety and security programs, procedures, and practices, ensuring the safety and security of company employees and property.
  • Oversee communication and compliance of corporate security programs including workplace violence prevention, loss prevention, facility security, and active threat programs.

  • Develop and maintain Security Risk Assessment plans (SRAs) for all corporate facilities, places of interest, and areas of international travel.

  • Lead and provide oversight to the Corporate Safety Program and chartered corporate safety committee.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with government, emergency, and law enforcement agencies, as well as utility industry and private-sector security and business continuity leaders to gather, analyze, and disseminate timely information and assure joint coordination should a disruptive threat or incident occur.

  • Partner with other company functions such as, Human Resources, Risk Control, Information Technology, and Corporate Facilities to develop and implement business continuity, disaster recovery, and cyber security plans to minimize and mitigate the consequences of threats and risks that could directly or indirectly affect the company.

  • Develop and oversee plans, training, and exercises to assure employee awareness and organizational resilience.

  • Lead geographically dispersed security team, providing oversight and guidance.

  • Supervisor/Manager responsibilities may include all of the following:

    • Staffing needs to include interviewing and on-boarding for new employees.

    • Training and development, as well as coaching and motivation for staff.

    • Performance management, goal setting, employee engagement, and salary administration.



  • Workforce management to include: unit equipment, software, and space needs; approving time off and overtime usage; and budget recommendations.

  • Conduct investigations of criminal activity, misconduct, workplace fraud, theft, or policy violations.

  • Evaluate security requirements at all Church Mutual Group locations and for field operations. Lead the development and implementation of all physical security needs to ensure the protection of people and property.

  • Interact with all levels of management. Provide updates on the Safety and Security program, including the status of outstanding issues with recommendations for improvement.

  • Oversee all vendors and other third parties engaged to assist the company with corporate security matters.

  • Advise on appropriate measures for domestic and international travel for company employees.

  • Maintain professional and technical expertise by attending workshops, training programs, and educational opportunities.

Essential Functions

  • Train employees on safety and security procedures.

  • Supervisor responsibilities to include staffing, training and development, performance management, and work force planning.

  • Travel is required.

  • Ability to obtain certifications and continuing education as needed.

Necessary Knowledge and Abilities:


  • Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Working knowledge and experience with corporate physical security systems and technologies.

  • Ability to travel frequently within the U.S. domestically and internationally.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and a calm demeanor to lead in times of stress.

  • Ability to research and analyze data, using quantitative analysis skills and identify trends.

  • Strong collaboration and partnering skills.

Qualifications


  • Minimum five to seven years of relevant experience such as law enforcement, corporate security, or military experience required. Five to seven years of experience in a corporate security setting preferred.

  • Significant security management experience with accountability for multiple geographically dispersed facilities.

  • Strong understanding of principles of workplace violence prevention in a corporate setting preferred.

  • Experience leading team members in other geographic locations.

  • Knowledge of governmental and security regulations and laws.

Education:


  • Bachelor's degree required, degree in related field preferred.

  • Certifications in emergency management, security or business continuity, OSHA, CSP preferred.
