JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for providing the day-to-day leadership and management for a pork processing facility's rendering operation. Supervises and coordinates department activities and tasks of 8 to 10 team members responsible for the production of over 100,000 pounds of rendering and by-products.The supervisor is responsible for safety of the team, improving performance, productivity, efficiency of the shift by adhering to all standards to meet the needs of operations

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS


  • Provide the day-to-day leadership and management by assigning, directing and monitoring work performance of the team.

  • Ensure all new hires and existing employees are trained and qualified to perform the tasks of each position in the department

  • Responsible for ensuring all team members can perform their jobs safely and adhere to all policies relating to workplace safety.

  • Communicate daily expectations, direction, instructions and provide ongoing feedback to employees to achieve daily production goals and objectives

  • Communicate any changes in policies or procedures as needed.

  • Develop collaborative working relationship with all departments in the plant.

  • Complete all reports accurately and timely.

  • Ensures department and shift comply with all regulations and policies regarding HACCP programs, food safety, product specifications and quality programs.

  • Adhere to all safety procedures, incident investigation analysis, conduct departmental safety meetings, and utilize equipment provided for employee protection.

  • Understands the collective bargaining agreement; creates and maintains a positive working relationship with the local union

  • Responsible for ensuring team members clock in/out for each shift worked. Verify and approve all timekeeping entries are accurate and up to date.

REQUIREMENTS


  • College degree and/or two or more years of supervisory experience with protein, rendering or similar processing facility preferred

  • At minimum two years rendering or maintenance experience

  • Bi-lingual preferred but not required

  • Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)

  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with team members at all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies

  • Experience with AS400, Kronos, ADP eTime, Carlisle systems preferred but not required
