Howmet Dover Casting is a world-class supplier of complex, investment-cast turbine airfoils and other components for the aircraft engine and industrial gas turbine industries. Howmet Dover Alloy is a world-class supplier of vacuum and air-melted nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys to aerospace, gas turbine, medical and other high-technology industrial markets.

We are currently looking for a Production Supervisor to join our Howmet Dover Casting plant in Dover, New Jersey.

JOB SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for performing an assortment of tasks in a highly engineered manufacturing environment and provide leadership and strategic guidance for the achievement of operational goals.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace's value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook).
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EH&S training.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions


  • Partner with other functions within the facility to achieve business goals;
  • Responsible for cost control and department budget to meet plant financial commitments;
  • Prioritize, guide, and facilitate activities of the manufacturing function to meet department goals, initiatives, and requirements;
  • Establish and maintain uniform manufacturing performance metrics and reporting systems;
  • Actively work to introduce Lean Manufacturing concepts;
  • Oversee the development of standard policies, procedures, and practices to ensure customer requirements are embodied in the manufacturing;
  • Manage employee relations for the department;
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed;
  • Lead improvements by promoting best practice methodologies and new technologies.
  • Responsible for the training and development within group.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications;

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


  • A minimum of two years of experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (I.T.A.R.) which requires U.S. persons status. ITAR defines U.S. persons as U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or refugee;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Two years of experience as a supervisor;
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution;
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt;
  • Experience working with lean manufacturing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED


  • Ability to stand/walk for several hours each day;
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25lbs on occasion;
  • This is not a temperature-controlled work environment;
  • May be required to wear PPE including eye and hearing protection, metatarsal safety boots.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions/guidelines.
