JOB DESCRIPTION

Windows Server Administrator

Location: Chantilly, VA

Security Clearance: Top Secret

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7 AM - 4 PM

Job Overview:

The ideal candidate is familiar with the implementation and best practices for managing enterprise Windows systems in a classified environment. The candidate is familiar with system security hardening and can implement system management methods to ensure the successful accreditation and sustainment of classified networks and systems.


  • Works under general supervision, and no instructions are needed for routine work.

  • Receives general instructions for special assignments.

  • Work is reviewed for sound technical judgment and overall adequacy.

  • Performs computing delivery system integration.

  • Provides problem resolution and technical support for delivery systems.

  • Administers user's system access to meet security requirements.

  • Monitor's system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning.

  • Assists in the system integration, hardware and software installation, configuration and disposition of servers and workstations to support the architecture.

  • Displays ability to manage and coordinate projects and tasks without assistance

  • Proficient at providing technical training to teammates and coworkers

  • Provides support for the design, validation, and implementation of changes to computing delivery systems.

  • Proficient in reporting to and communicating with management

  • Performs system monitoring and backup and restore procedures to ensure system and data availability.

  • Administers user's system access to meet security requirements. Performs problem resolution as appropriate

Job Specific Requirements and Skills:


  • 6+ years' experience Windows server administration in a classified enterprise environment

  • Active DoD Top-Secret clearance required at hire. Prefer completed/passed CI Poly at time of hire. Candidate will be submitted for SCI access (TS/SCI) after onboarding. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain all the above

  • IAT Level-2 Technical Certification (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent), required within 90 days of hire

  • Associates degree in IT Coursework, Bachelor's preferred

  • Makes use of and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts

  • Advanced level of skills in networking, server sizing and server capacity planning, security hardening, and installation

  • Advanced level of skills in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity concepts

  • Advanced level of skills with database, web server, enterprise backup software administration

  • Advanced level of skills backup systems and capacity planning

  • Advanced level of skill in maintaining Active Directory

  • Administration and troubleshooting of Citrix Infrastructure

  • Advanced skill set for Hypervisors: VMware, Citrix

  • Advanced skill set for networking: iSCSI, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, CIFS

  • Desired skill set for Tools: McAfee ePO, NetBackup, Veeam, Sentinel, SCAP, LANDesk, SolarWinds, NetIQ Sentinel

  • Desired skill set for Monitoring: Nagios, Splunk

  • Desired skill set for Server OS: Windows Server 2012, 2016

  • Desired skill set for Patch Management: WSUS, SCCM

  • Desired skill set for Physical Servers: Cisco UCS, UCS Manager, Isilon cluster - NAS, NFS, CIFS

  • Desired skill set for Application: Matlab, Mathematica, ServiceNow, Netbackup, PBIS Likewise, FlexLM

  • Desired skill set for Scripting: PowerShell

  • Desired skill set for Monitoring: Nagios, SolarWinds, NESSUS

  • Desired skill set for VMware: ESXi 6.0+

  • Desired skill set for Cisco UCS: Blade series, Manager, Central, Director

  • Desired skill set for HP: C3000, C7000, HP Proliant, iLo

  • Desired skill set for Networking: iSCSI, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, CIFS

  • Nice to have: Basic Linux administration skills

General Requirements:


  • U.S. Citizen (not dual)

  • Submit/Pass a 10-year Dept. of Defense background check, criminal history, drug screening, and fingerprints

  • Submit/Pass a 4-hour counter-intelligence polygraph for SCI access

  • Valid driver's license/Real-ID with clean driver's history

  • Applicant must have a strong work ethic, be extremely organized and detail-oriented, be a self-starter with excellent time-management, problem solving, and multitasking skills

  • Applicant must have excellent front-facing / face-to-face customer service skills

  • Minimum 1 year of customer service experience (call center, retail, or other customer facing role)

  • Problem solving skills from active listening to, and educating, customers through resolution and a set of delivery expectations

  • Excellent communication skills (in English), both verbal and written, to articulate details in a professional manager

  • Position may require ability to sit, stand, walk extended distances, bend, stoop, squat and lift to 35 lbs. from the floor to desktop for extended periods of time

  • Experience with a ticketing system like ServiceNow a plus
