Job Description:

Role and Responsibilities

Summary

Design, develop, and manage courseware materials using instructional systems design processes to include course syllabus, instructional guides, MTL/ESD, media such as static technical illustrations, animations, graphics, video, and 3D drawings for the KC-135 Training System (TS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development and review of course materials with input from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) including but not limited to: selection of appropriate instructional methods, development of instructionally sound course objectives, design and development of realistic scenarios and case studies, and design and development of valid assessment tools


  • Apply established instructional design processes across an extensive training curriculum


  • Responsible for developing, conducting, and analyzing training needs assessments for assigned projects


  • Assist in the development of different levels of training tasks and products against training requirements


  • Document and present tool and methodology ideas to the CAE instructional design community


  • Proactively prioritize efforts to meet course milestones


  • Apply Instructional System design (ISD) principles of training goals/objectives.


  • Utilizes common illustration design software to produce and edit graphics and digitized photographs for integration into presentations and/or web pages.


  • Assists in rewrite and/or edit training materials to reflect good grammar and visual appearance without altering the meaning of author's original thought.


  • Assists in conducting peer reviews to verify production in accordance with established quality standards.


  • Ensure material and graphics are proofread for content and correct word usage.


  • Assists in the creation of 2-D/3-D graphics for integration into computer based interactive courseware.


  • Consult with customers on performance management and instructional strategies


  • Interface with project manager to confirm instructional methods and sequences are being followed


  • Perform final editorial review and participate or lead trial instruction/evaluation of all modified courseware.


  • Coordinate/Manage activities of SME's to produce static and interactive course materials to be presented during classroom and flight simulator instruction.


  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Education Requirements


  • BS in instructional design, educational technology or related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in producing interactive course materials or a combination of education and related experience.


  • Minimum of one (one) year professional experience in systematic approaches to curriculum development


  • Experience with a Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS)


  • Experience designing and creating self paced, interactive instructional content


  • Previous experience in producing aviation related training products


  • Demonstrate an intermediate level proficiency in developing multimedia products using Adobe CC Software (Animate, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)


  • Demonstrate an intermediate level of proficiency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and web design


  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word.


  • Must be able to effectively deliver oral presentations to management and customers


  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision


  • Must be able to work overtime as required


  • Understanding of military protocols and customs is essential


  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance


Language Skills

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.

Mathematical Skills

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable.

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment


  • Work in a regular office environment; communicate via personal computer, telephone and fax.


  • Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


  • Domestic and international travel as required.


  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.


  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery.


  • Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
