Hill is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer in San Jose, CA
Responsibilities:
Responsible for coordination and monitoring the overall performance and administration of the design and construction of the works
Assist in inspecting and oversite of construction progress
Manages, oversees and coordinates all facets of the construction phase of project including mobilization, construction, and closeout
Plans, organizes, directs and reports construction management activities and progress to upper management
Reviews contractors' initial construction schedule, submittals, schedule of values, and responds to contractor inquiries
Manages and coordinates project team and contractors in communicating directives and ensuring the project scope is built according to plans, specifications, and cost limits
Reviews submittals from contractors to ensure specification requirements are met
Obtains responses to requests for clarification from contractors and keeps a log of such requests
Negotiates with contractors to achieve a fair and reasonable cost for change orders and reviews their impact on the project
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in the areas of engineering or construction management is preferred
Minimum 15 years of construction experience including experience with Caltrans
Candidate should have strong computing skills including competency in Microsoft Office Suite
Candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Candidate must be able to read plans and specs and must maintain quality control at the site
