The Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator will be responsible for a range of different job functions and will learn a vast number of new techniques, disease pathways, and treatment protocols. Mentorship from the Oncology Director will be given and asking questions welcomed. The Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator will follow multiple patients at any given time who are active in the pre-transplant process as well as following acute leukemia patients through their multiple courses of chemotherapy. The Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinators are also responsible for patients in the post-transplant/post-leukemic treatment process. Following these patients means the Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator will coordinate and perform the responsibilities related to the BMT/leukemia patient including scheduling visits, screening needs, and more. For research, the Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator will manage and report patient data required by the Center for International Bone Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) and other national reporting agencies, as necessary. 

Working closely withBMT/ Leukemia physicians andmidlevel providers is a regular part of the position and the Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator must be able to clearly communicate with all of the members on theirBMT team. This is vital because the Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator is also the primary point of contact for theBMT / Acute Leukemia Program patients. The Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator will gain experience leading a BMT program, starting a BMT program, writing policies and procedures and a well-rounded oncology nursing background will ensure the BMT RN Coordinator has a smooth transition into this exciting position.
