Your Responsibilities

This position may be located in WaterlooIA, Des MoinesIA, DubuqueIA,Cary NC, or any of the Quad City locationsper the hiring manager's discretion.This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

As a Cost Engineer for Cost Intelligencelocated in Moline, IL you will d evelopcost models to assist in setting target costs and analyzing supplier pricing to assure cost targets are met. May use the Quote Form as an analysis tool. In addition, you will:


  • Provides insight, develops/maintains cost models, and aids the Strategic Sourcing process and helps team develop strategies for sourcing, negotiations and decision-making.
  • Provides industry/market analysis for commodities to assist the sourcing teams in structuring and negotiating long-term agreements and in understanding the cost drivers that affect the volatility or stability of how commodities are priced. Analyzes the impact of cost drivers on globally sourced commodities and assists in the development of terms and conditions.
  • Applies electronic tools (aPriori, BDI, regression, etc.) across a broad range of applications.
  • Independently develop new cost tools / libraries, visits suppliers for gaining cost/manufacturing intelligence and leads Design to Cost (D2C) efforts.

What Skills You Need


  • Background in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, power systems, etc.).
  • Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities.
  • Experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, reliability, design, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, quality.
  • Experience with engineering tools, systems, and databases.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 25%

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience in analyzing large data sets utilizing statistical methods.
  • Experience leading a complex cost reduction or cost avoidance project requiring collaboration with multiple functions.
  • Knowledge of the direct material cost analysis and detailed quote form analysis.
  • Technical skill and knowledge in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) and other early costing techniques.
  • Experience using cost analysis related to software (aPriori, BDI, etc).
  • 2 or more years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • 1 or more years of supply management experience.
  • Experience with shop floor manufacturing, incentive pay systems such as CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plan) and work measurement.
  • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering / Technology discipline or equivalent experience
