Banquet Server at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description:

I. Essential Functions

Providing the highest level of personalized service based on basic philosophies of Glen Oaks Country Club Handbook and Training. As directed by the Assistant Clubhouse Managers and the Clubhouse Manager, servers will display the highest level of hospitality and enthusiasm through on-going education, training, utilization of resources, and good business standards to provide world-class service to all Members and their guests during Banquet events.

II. Job Duties/Tasks


  1. Have a comprehensive knowledge of serving routines and bartending duties

  2. Provide complete service to the Banquet guests according to the Standards of Operation

  3. Be available throughout the shift to assist guests with any questions, concerns or requests as needed

  4. Thoroughly understand the format of a Banquet Event Order (BEO) so as to set-up the necessary components of the event

  5. Maintain a high level of visibility and equal association with all Guests

  6. The ability to set-up and tear-down events in a quick and orderly fashion

  7. Have basic knowledge of banquet menu items so as to explain them to guests

  8. Maintain the highest level of service in order to provide all Banquet guests with a memorable experience at Glen Oaks Country Club

  9. Abide and adhere to the Club employee handbook

  10. Consistently perform all required opening and closing duties as spelled out in the Banquet Manual

  11. Performs other duties as assigned from time to time

  12. Assists supervisors in setting up special events and parties throughout the club.

  13. Promotes high morale and enthusiasm among staff by providing a positive and team-oriented mentality both on and off the floor.

  14. Provides a high level of cooperation and communication with all allied departments of the club, such as the Clubhouse Manager and the Culinary Team, Housekeeping, Shakes Attendants, etc.

  15. Communicates with Assistant Clubhouse Managers all Member dining experiences to help promote the best possible service throughout the Clubhouse.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to withstand long periods of time on their feet and walking various distances. Must be able to deal with in a respectable manner stressful situations while ultimately correcting the problem. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb or balance. Ala carte and/or banquet service experience preferred with strong communication and guest relations skills. Must be reliable with AM availability
