We are seeking a Test Technician/Engineer in our East Granby, CT location. This role will be involved with a variety of specialty optical fiber test and measurement responsibilities:

• Perform optical and mechanical characterization of our diverse specialty fiber products including single-mode fibers, multi-mode fibers, polarization maintaining fibers, rare-earth double-clad fibers as well as custom and new product designs


• Develop test methods for production fibers, create Standard Operational Procedures and participate in training of the production test technicians


• Participate and lead optical characterization and troubleshooting of fibers to support the Engineering group and customers


• Troubleshoot test equipment to support fiber test production and revenue


• Evaluate test method capabilities, define and coordinate R&R and define error bar


• Participate in specifying, scoping, ordering and implementing in production new test equipment to improve and increase our test capabilities


• Conduct optical fiber product qualification tests and prepare qualification report using optical and mechanical tests results


• Participate in engineering projects and perform optical characterization of optical fibers

Education and Work Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.S. in an Engineeringand two years of experience in optics, optical fiber, or optical component testing


• Requires hands-on experience with splicing, general fiber measurements, free space optics, and/or building test equipment


• Requires experience with data management software such as Excel

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge of LabVIEW
