Job Description



Associate/Intermediate:

Applies engineering theory and technical skills to support activities which may include planning, design, operations, construction and maintenance follow and inspection, shipment of materials, testing of components, systems, and equipment; surveillance of manufacturing and quality control practices, tasks associated with the control, accountability, and disposition of nuclear or radioactive materials and hazardous waste; tasks associated with environmental, safety and health with primary focus on safety, inspection/monitoring and technical training. May prepare work instructions and procedures, develop technical processes and machinery/system layout to optimize the flow of work, conduct data collection for engineering analysis and statistical studies, and implement engineering analytical decisions. May apply technical knowledge and experience in the study, development, correction, and prevention of industrial type problems. Makes engineering technology decisions within the organization.

An Engineering Technologist in the Dosimetry group is responsible for maintaining accurate radiation health records of all personnel on the Kesselring Site and supporting radiological environmental monitoring programs. This include properly handling and processing Dosimetry, issuing Dosimetry to Site personnel, providing internal monitoring for personnel, supporting the collection/processing of area monitoring and environmental monitoring Dosimetry, maintaining accurate radiation health records to manage and track personnel exposure, and performing quality control checks throughout all processes to ensure all records are accurate. The selected individual will need to qualify to operate the Dosimetry and Internal Monitoring Equipment and follow Dosimetry office processes. The individual will be required to qualify as a radiation worker to fulfill all their duties. The individual will be required to support emergency response teams needing radiation health support. Shift work and overtime may be required during peak work periods to support operational needs. This position requires support of work on first and second shift which could include extended periods on second shift to support peak work periods. Additionally, this position will be required to support work on weekends and overtime during peak work periods. Weekend support during peak work periods is either arranged in advance or handled through a call-in process if emergent.







Required Skills



Associate:

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or

Associate degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience


Intermediate:

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of eight years of relevant experience; or

Associate degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or

Bachelor degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university







Preferred Skills



Previous experience in Radiation Health or Radiological Controls.

Qualified Radiation Worker.

Demonstrated performance working in a team environment and positively influencing team results.

Demonstrated performance providing quality customer service to others.

Demonstrated performance with attention to detail (maintaining accurate records and being detail oriented to cross check own work and the work of others).

Demonstrated communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to follow procedures verbatim, identify when procedures/process do not work as written, and recommend and implement changes for continuous improvement.

Demonstrated performance preparing written reports and presenting technical information to others.

Ability to work overtime and shift work during peak work periods.
