Job Summary: Provides data expertise at the business unit level. developing data architecture for significant and highly impactful initiatives allocated to one or more Agile Release Trains in partnership with business and IT stakeholders. Documents current state and creates future state alternatives and roadmaps for format, storage, transport, migration, and retention of data used across multiple business initiatives. Aligns data architecture for business unit initiatives with enterprise data architecture. Explores and provides expert recommendations on appropriate application of multiple database technologies. Provides leadership and guidance in communicating and implementing data governance and data management practices to protect and improve the value of data. Balances concerns of data as an asset with application modernization. Mentors those in less senior positions.

Duties/Responsibilities:
* Provides vision, leadership, planning, and strategic direction on data architecture and enterprise information management.
* Defines, develops, and delivers consistent information and data standards, methodologies, guidelines, best practice and approved modeling techniques on data/information management, data quality and data governance.
* Designs enterprise data architecture, including conceptual architectures for solution strategies, for data stores supporting transactional processing, data warehouses, operational data stores, data marts, and analytics.
* Provides assistance, technical guidance to development teams in regard to data modeling, Spark, SQL, and stored procedure development, includes code review of complex Spark, SQL, and stored procedures and performance tuning as needed by development teams; develops data models as required by project team.
* Utilizes skills with the appropriate tools and business requirements to model entity relationships, multi-dimensionality, subject areas, state transitions, data flows and integrations, and reference data.
* Collects, maintains, and publishes corporate metadata (system of record, sources, retention etc.) related to the modeling in an enterprise asset repository. Provides information and assistance relative to the use and understanding of data models and data architecture.
* Leads the design, development, implementation and maintenance of complex data systems and solutions and ensure technology solutions are in alignment with data architecture principles and target state.
* Creates and maintains accurate, complete and consistent governed conceptual, logical and physical data models with lineage and implementation traceability metadata.
* Applies enterprise principles, standards and practices serving as the conduit for influencing Enterprise Architecture direction while optimizing solutions.
* Translates business impacts into architectural solutions (current and target state).
* Develop architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs.
* Responsible for designing and architecting the data platforms and structures to support the development of advanced analytic solutions at FedEx.
* Will collaborate with internal and external teams to identify the critical design requirements to aid in the data model definition, grouping/organization of data with regards to defined taxonomies and ontologies aligned with our business architecture

Abilities/Knowledge/Skills Considered a Plus:
* Experience defining future state strategy and architecture principles for a cloud-based Enterprise Information Warehouse supporting advanced analytic solutions at enterprise scale.
*Have vast knowledge and experience with regards to Data Governance principles and best practices within an enterprise setting and will be influential in accelerating our maturity.
*Have a strong understanding of data architectural best practices as it relates to highly complex advanced analytic eco systems leveraging Spark, SQL, and NO-SQL platforms to support a variety of data consumption patterns supporting a diverse set of personas.
* 6+ years of developing and executing a modern data architecture strategy while leading a team of data engineers/ architects
* 6+ years evangelizing modern data architecture approaches and standards, such as data lakes, data warehouses, data marts, capable of handling big data constructs supporting real-time decision science.
* 5+ years of architecting multitenant Cloud Data Lakes for enterprise scale leveraging Spark, SQL and NO-SQL technologies
* Big Data experience leveraging a variety of cloud technologies to acquire and transform data for real time advanced analytics.
* Experience architecting persona-based consumption patterns leveraged by a variety of modern database technologies such as ADLS, Databricks, Synapse, Cosmos DB, Snowflake, Mongo, Cassandra, and Teradata Vantage
* Experienced with the information technology aspects of data collection, organization, and integration
* Demonstrated skill at data cleansing, data quality assessment, and using analytics for data assessment
* Deep familiarity and thought leadership with regards to Data Governance principles such as stewardship, business glossary, data catalogs, data privacy, taxonomy, ontology
* Experience with design, configuration, and rollout of Data Governance platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Ab Initio, Purview
* Experience evaluating, deploying, and utilizing platforms and technologies which support SDLC leveraging CI/CD principles
* Experience working with databases and modern data platforms, SQL, Linux, Python, Spark, stream and batch processing, ELT and ETL tools/solutions, and cloud-based technologies and tools
* Experience working within a SAFe Agile Scrum Team

Remote Work:

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information Systems, business and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Seven (7) years work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.Recognized leadership skills , working collaboratively and creatively with business and IT stakeholders. Proven experience creating architecture models and implementation methodologies. Strong human relationa and communication skills.
