Position Objective:

Set up, operate, and tend to a filter machine that performs a variety of functions converting, pleating, forming, and sealing media into products. Performs manual assembly along a production line. Operates and troubleshoots production line machinery and computers. May perform minor repairs as necessary. This individual will ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all policies, procedures, and JSAs

  • Responsible for producing the highest quality product in accordance with AAF quality standards and operating machinery following set standards and procedures.

  • Adjust guide assemblies, forming bars, and folding mechanisms according to specifications using hand tools.

  • Observe operation of machine to detect correct machine malfunctions such as improper forming, glue flow and tension.

  • Measure space, cutters, and perforators during change -overs according to specs

  • Place roll of media on feed tracks and thread through rollers

  • Examine in process work to detect defects and verify conformance to work orders, and adjust machine as necessary to correct production problems.

  • Examine finished products for defects

  • Record job times, supplies, and scrap used in the department

  • Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on machine including cleaning, adjusting, and oiling.

  • Maintain inventory

  • Communicate product schedule with others

  • Takes part in continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact work and quality of product

  • Assemble filters by hand

  • Repair filters that do not meet final quality checks

  • Perform equipment changeovers

  • Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary to produce product with in specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.

  • 4"specials-ability to measure and cut media and filters to within 1/16". Assemble and cut and cap filters to make special/non-standard size filters.

  • Amerseal specials- Learn to bend wire to form rings needed to fabricate the amerseal non-standard products. Operate ultra-sonic welding equipment to be able to seal rings and bond the media together.

  • Responsible for off line pleater & assembler for one of the pleating lines.

Technical Requirements:


  • Mechanical Knowledge of machine and tools

  • Knowledge of Mathematics

  • Production and processing Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Knowledge/Experience:

A minimum of two years recent experience in a manufacturing environment with machine operation, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
