We are currently searching for a Product Manager to be based out of Philadelphia, PA. Reporting to the VP/GM Cable Management with matrixed to the Global Director of Product Management, the Product Manager is responsible for the entire product portfolio, development and product marketing. This includes managing products through their life cycles, developing and maintaining roadmaps, gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, defining the product vision, developing and implementing channel strategies and working closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Codes and Standards and Sales to deliver an end-user driven innovative product portfolio.

The product manager is expected to become the Cable Management North America subject matter expert within the business. They are responsible for understanding the customer's current and future requirements and the competitive environment. Additionally the Product Manager will be responsible for setting pricing, working with Operations and Finance to ensure BOM and Routing accuracy of both existing and new products.


Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.


Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Subject matter expert for the product category and adjacencies

  • Captures and disseminates Voice of the Customer (VOC)

  • Analyzes product position in market relative to price, profitability, market share, verticals, and geographies

  • Expert with respect to the competition and product category; ongoing profiling and reporting of competitive strength and weakness and game theory of competitive response; maintains and shares relevant market intelligence

  • Develops and Implements the Business Unit Product Line Strategy, Competitive Markets and Competitors

  • Distills market, competitive and environmental analysis and define the short and long run category strategy to limit risks and expand opportunities

  • Manages product life cycle and develop plans for all phases

  • Develops the core positioning, value proposition and messaging for the category

  • Identifies gaps that could lead to a sustainable competitive advantage

  • Develops and executes action plans to achieve breakthrough results. Maintain and report out on action plans, KPI's and countermeasures

  • Manage the new product development and VA/VE process from ideation through commercialization using the stage gate process; Work collaboratively with Atkore Business Units both domestically and globally to maximize product features around the world

  • Work with third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities

  • Collaborate with Sales to develop channel partners and programs

  • Collaborate with codes and application team to remove regional or local roadblocks (code-conversions) and ensure new product compliance

  • Set overarching pricing strategy to meet revenue and profitability goals

  • Educate, train, and develop our front-line sales team (inside and outside), national network of sales agents, and select distributors, contractors, and OEM's

  • Assists customers with VA/VE opportunities and special components

  • Ensure BOM, Routing, Pricing and Costing accuracy as we prepare for next phase of JDE ERP implementation

  • Verticals: Monitor vertical activities to identify opportunities for existing and future product revenue growth.

  • Intellectual Property: Work with legal to protect Atkore IP and monitor competitor IP submissions/expiry of existing patents.

  • Inorganic Growth: Identify and participate in M&A target discussions, to support the Atkore GET2X growth objectives.

  • Digital: Simplify the customer journey, working with marketing to leverage digital tools that improve the selection, specification and procurement of Atkore products.

Qualifications include:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (MBA preferred)

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Product Management

  • 7-10 years business experience, preferably in electrical industry with Engineering pedigree

  • Demonstrated success defining and launching products and managing product categories

  • Demonstrated ability to use lean tools, structure project plans and methods to drive process and product improvements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent teamwork and project management skills, self-driven and accountable

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

  • High Energy

  • Works Autonomously

  • Must be able to travel approximately 20% of the time

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Power-Point, Outlook, CRM systems and able to learn JDE and MAPICS ERP systems
