Direct and further develop the Sanitation for Dole's processed vegetable operations. Responsible for managing both salaried and hourly employees within the department.
Required Skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION
Prepare and manage Sanitation budgets.
Hire and Train all hourly Sanitation Employee's
Ensure 100% compliance with Master Sanitation Schedule
Report Sanitation activities in Time and scope to plant management team
Develop and enforce plant Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPS); maintain SQF Policies and procedures and the Sanitation Procedure Manual.
Act as liaison with federal and state agencies to ensure plant compliance with regulatory issues.
Compile and generate period Sanitation Audit results, SQF audit results and environmental data to management
Ensure approved chemicals and processes for all Sanitation functions and SSOP's are followed at all times.
Maintain Daily Sanitation documentation to verify sanitation activities.
Responsible for Safety of all Sanitation personnel. Ensure that Safety policies are followed at all times.
Document Corrective action for all deficiencies noted on SQF, Pre-operational and corporate audits.
Follow all food safety requirements and GMP's as applicable for this position
Ensure the integrity and continued operations of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities
Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years in food industry; experience in Sanitation, Quality or Technical Support in a Manufacturing environment; additional supervisory experience preferred. Experience in developing/building Sanitation systems or work experience in an organization with strong Sanitation and Food Safety systems. Experience with fresh, perishable products a plus.
SKILLS: Working knowledge of food technology, processing and microbiology. Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP and Federal/State food regulations. Strong computer/statistical skills, particularly as related to data collection, manipulation and reporting. Working knowledge of SPC/SQC. Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal). Ability to communicate and work with diverse workforce.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS : Must have the ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism. Ability to work and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
BS Food Science, Microbiology or related field or equivalent work experience.
EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT
Manages 1 salaried supervisor, oversees work activities for approximately 65-100 hourly personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment. Must be able to work in a cold environment. Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles. Ability to travel. Must be able to work in a cold, wet and noisy environment (35* on Plant floor).
WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT
Ability to work both a variety of shifts and hours.
Ability to work weekends and some company holidays as needed.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
