Your day to day

Purpose of the Role/Summary: 


The Director, Trading is a key role in Financial Planning & Analysis, responsible for providing insights and analysis regarding the historical and forecasted performance of IHG’s Americas hotel portfolio.  This includes monitoring competitor and industry performance for context as well as liaising with internal teams to inform senior leaders.


Ensures a detailed understanding of the Region’s internally & externally reported financial results, through preparation of reports, presentations and analysis for the Regional CFO and Management Team.


Key Accountabilities:



  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the Region’s Long Range Financial Plan, Budgeting & Forecasting, and profitability.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of strategic initiatives and alternatives, market outlooks, and enterprise value drivers.

  • Monitor and understand trading results, outlook, and trends.

  • Conduct monthly and quarterly trading reviews with the business support teams.

  • Monitor KPIs such as system size, RevPAR etc. (liaise with Growth Team, Sales and Marketing, and Operations).

  • Preparation/Presentation of reports, presentations and analysis for the Regional CFO and Management Team.

Key Shared Accountabilities:



  • Competitive context, including performance of the overall industry (both historic and forecasted) and key competitors

  • Drives the region's Financial planning processes (Hotels and IHG's Overhead forecasts, budgets, EBP, Long Range and Capital Plans), including continuous improvement of processes, input from and linkage with non-financial activities.

  • Regional Finance & Business Support Directors (including Operations Finance)

  • Group FP&A (including Competitive Intelligence Unit)

  • Finance COE, Management Information Delivery

  • Region and Global Finance Leadership Team

  • Investor Relations

  • Auditors

What we need from you

Education:



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. MBA preferred.

Critical Experience & Expertise:



  • 8-10 years progressive experience with a major international hospitality, consulting or investment practice

Technical Skills & Knowledge: 



  • Financial reporting.

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.

  • Strong presentational skills.

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Strong system and application knowledge preferred (Essbase. PowerPoint, Excel etc)

  • Strong Team Player
